I was on a very strict budget, so I only shopped at David's Bridal. I looked at Alfred Angelo once, but that was the only other store I even considered. I didn't care much about the fabric quality as long as it looked pretty! There was a lot of drama surrounding my dress choice, but basically, I had to return the one I bought originally because my mom and husband hated it, so I exchanged it for this one, which was about $550. I added a halter strap because I didn't want a strapless dress. The year I got married, EVERYONE had a strapless dress, and I wanted to do something a little different.

I just got mine today (after looking at this thread a few days ago for information, so I thought I'd share)!

This is Maggie Sottero's Carrie style in Ivory. I would never have considered it before trying it on, but I realized the ruched styles were really flattering on me, and then I tried it on and... it was the one. Link: http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?style=J1287

It was on clearance for $300, which was great because I had a limited budget (I don't want to spend so much money on a dress that's just for one day... but I also wanted to feel beautiful and glamorous, since I'd be looking at these pictures for a long time, so I was willing to spend over $100). The corset back made it fit perfectly without needing further alterations (I'm quite busty for my size, so for zipper/button dresses I had to go up two sizes to zip over my bust, but then they swamped me in waist and hip). I don't need to do any alterations at all (I'm only 5'3", but I'm wearing 4 inch heels (platforms-- they are quite comfortable), and with a mermaid petticoat it is just the right length)!

The pictures are candid and taken in the bridal shop, so the poses aren't the best. I felt so pretty in this dress, and like it flattered every part of my figure, and the ruching details made it feel more unusual. I never thought I'd end up with a strapless, but I totally love it and feel completely supported without any foundation garments!

My dress was Melissa Sweet Mila. I think the original price is about $4,000, but I bought the sample for $1975. My original budget for a dress was $1500, but I ended up being much pickier about the fabric quality than I thought I would be.

I love love LOVED it, not sure what to do with it now though! Anyone want a wedding dress  ??

My dress was a Casablanca dress, but it was from the previous season, so it was on super sale. I only paid $690 for it. I wish that was me in the pics, but, alas, my photog really didn't get any really good dress shots!

I was also a Casablanca bride. The dress was around $500 purchased online from some place in FL. Alternations from my local taylor were included in that price.

It was a beautiful dress till my mother stepped on the back of it and ripped my bustle so I had to carry my skirt around for the remainder of the wedding...it did not help that my mother and I were not on very good speaking terms that day either

The one they had sent from NYC to my salon was a size 0. There are only about 8 people in the world that could actually fit in it. LOL

I don't have finished pics of mine but its almost an entirely custom 3 piece set. Its being made in new york and I am almost completely trusting them to make it to my specifications and proper size, since it will be nearly impossible to alter.

Whenever I tell friends this they assume I am spending a FORTUNE (3000-10000) but I am getting it for $500 I'll post pictures once they either send me some or I get the dress

That's lovely - very belle epoque! Are you getting the white or cream? Will you be using the very romantic theme for your wedding decor as well?

Hi! I ordered it in the cream, and yes to the romantic theme! Vintage romance all the way! Here is the door for our altar - to be decorated with flower wreaths. There will be another one just like it over by the cake area. The wedding is at our house (lots of land with a beautiful mountain and valley view - that my fiancee and I both grew up looking at. We grew up 1.1 miles apart and live in the house his father built. lol) Found the doors at a local antique place. They are SO big (9.5' tall) and SO heavy. I just love them... The other picture is the one I'd seen that inspired the door hunt. After seeing it, and knowing we could add an autumn mountain view to it, I couldn't see anything else being as perfect. And...another pic of the dress..because..well..I can't stop looking at it. LOL

Here is mine. We were married just over two years ago.

My dress, my friend picked up for me from a closing down sale. It was $500 AUD. The veil was $50 AUD. I was really happy with the bargain lol.

My reception dress was about $150 AUD. I was so glad I did because the other dress while pretty was not very comfortable to sit and walk around in.

Mine is definitely more "boho"

But I actually just had my first fitting today and I am thrilled! I am 6'1, wanted something more modest and literally could not find a thing in a regular store.

It is a fully custom french lace gown from a local designer called Flora & Lane! strange to do this during covid-19...snapped some photos without a mask just to see what i would actually look like...

Aww thank you!

Look at you, pretty girl! The lace is to die for.
I got married in a pale lavender wedding-y prom dress off the rack for 60 bucks  It was a scandal. Not white, and I wouldn't let MIL buy a dress for me.
In my defense, we had one week because his mom got really mad when she found out we were going to the courthouse instead of the wedding route. We had a beautiful ceremony thrown together in a week on a shoestring at the horse farm they lived in at the time. Wouldn't change a thing.
