No. The prongs can be opened a tad to allow a very slight (VERY) slight increase in diameter stone, but not by that much. Youd need a new head for that ring, or a new setting altogether. How about a coloured stone instead in the .25 setting?

You'll need one with a head that was for a 1.2 to maybe 1.25 diamond. A better idea is to buy the Vatche U-113 and it will be made to fit your stone and her finger. Or you can buy a Tiffany ring with a 1.2 diamond second hand.

Thanks so much for the feedback! I stretched the budget on the stone more than I was anticipating and now I'm looking for a suitable setting. Does anyone have any personal experience with BHD or Union Diamond's Tiffany replica? I'm not sure how I feel about palladium, but I was going to inquire if BHD could do their setting in white gold. I like the thinness of the prongs on the BHD version. Any thoughts?

Apparently, that link is to BHD's old version of the Tiffany replica. Their new version is available in white gold but the prongs look nothing like the older version. The setting below looks like a very poor replica. Does anyone have any personal experience? The Union Diamond is looking better...

This isn't a Tiffany replica. It is just the standard 6 prong tiffany setting that every jeweler sells. You are not going to have much success buying a diamond from ebay and a setting online and then finding anyone to set the stone for you.

The Vatche U-113 is actually a replica of the Tiffany knife edge setting. There's a huge difference in price between a plain 6 prong setting and a good Tiffany replica. Either is fine and will look pretty with a diamond wedding band, so it really depends on what your budget allows. I agree that spending the most on the stone is a better idea.

If you buy the diamond from ebay, then you need to take your diamond to a local jeweler and buy their plain 6 prong tiffany-style setting. They will likely charge a setting fee since you didn't buy the diamond from them. I would also contact Jewelers Mutual and give them the stone and setting information and have the ring insured before they set the diamond.

For $2,000, I would expect the Vatch U-113 to have a knife edge like the original Tiffany setting, but instead it has a pinched shank. BGD's Tiffany replica is now my frontrunner. They will set my stone in their setting for only $75, which seems more than reasonable. Are there any other contenders in the less than $1,000 category?

You probably would do better having someone do the setting for you custom. Too much size difference between a .25 ct. which is generally around 4 mm versus a 1.25 ct. which is about 7 mm. :wavey:

The Vatche U113 is the closest to the authentic Tiffany that I have seen. Like Diamondseeker said, there are plenty of 6 prong settings available that are a lot less but if you are wanting a Tiffany repro, the Vatche would be my first choice.

This is incorrect. I happen to have the Vatche U-113 on my finger at the moment and it most definitely has the knife edge! Now I am sure someone can request a different shank if they want, however. Not sure if you can see it, but here's a picture. Several people here have the setting as well. But mine was $1800 in platinum, so I am not sure of the cost in white gold. BG's is nice for the price.

DS, thank you for clarifying! We were informed today by GOG that the Vatche U113 was not a knife edge, but rather a pinched shank. Do you happen to know if this varies by vendor?
