Hi. I could use some help in locating a split shank setting for an engagement ring. I found a few very useful posts here already (which was how I learned the term split shank in the first place):

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/twisted-rope-split-shank-solitaire-ring.155611/

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/woobug-back-with-hanshots-woooooooo.97657/

I've found the stone I like through Whiteflash and contacted them last night with the first link above. The sales associated called me back this morning saying that while they had in fact custom designed that ring, shown in yellow gold, but that they were subsequently forced to remove it from their design book. I gather it was considered too close to the David Yurman design seen here:

http://racked.com/archives/2011/06/17/7-giant-diamond-engagement-rings-to-ogle-from-david-yurman.php

I forwarded to the Whiteflash associate another link I found reading here:

http://www.adwar.com/products/styles/21991L/view

I really like the crossover style split shank shown in the braid design by Whiteflash.

My question:

Can anyone provide some details I can forward to Whiteflash to help bring this ring together?

Thanks in advance for any help. I've truly learned so much from this community and would welcome any guidance in making this ring a success.

Your setting choice is really unique...I like it!! I recently requested and received a quote from Whiteflash for a piece using a cast from the Adwar catalog. I just gave them the item # and requested the prices for various metal choices. It was actually quick and painless. So what I would do is if you like and want to use the Adwar cast, just re-iterate to your sales rep that you would like to get a formal quote for the Adwar item and the metal you would like to use and find out if they can accommodate you. If you want something like the Adwar cast but not that specific design, ask your sales rep what tweaks can be made to the design so that it is not an exact replica of the David Yurman piece. Good luck!

One drop gave you great advice. I would just ask for the Adwar shank and see if they will put a Legato head on it. That should be enough to keep it copyright safe.

Onedrop, Gypsy. Thanks for the help. Whiteflash got back to me and we are moving forward with the adwar setting.

For my edification, what is a Legato Head?

Thanks again.

Here's the setting I selected in white gold. I liked it the best of any of the designs I saw.

I'd welcome any feedback. This is my first big diamond purchase but I'm feeling pretty jazzed about it right now.

Very pretty!! :appl:

Did you have the stone shipped out to you first, or did you have WF deliver it directly? Just curious. It's a lovely stone no worries ::)

Perfect! Congratulations! The Truth head and the Legato head are very similar and actually I prefer the Truth so IMO you made exactly the right choice!
