Since it's going to be impossible for me to run into Manhattan to do my diamond thing ;)) for some time to come, I decided to take advantage of Eternity Diamonds "try it at home" offer and ordered the two settings I liked the best in sterling silver and CZs. The problem is- I like them both. If pushed to make a decision, I like the halo best (changes would have to be made to the sizes of the diamonds in the setting) and my husband likes the three stone best, but worn as a stand alone piece with no wedding band.
I think down the road I'll pick up the "Claire" eleven stone band (made with larger diamonds) to wear as a stacker. I've always wanted a four prong per stone band.

Sooooo ..... let me know what you think. Like them? Hate them? The Tessa set is very reasonably priced, and it will be even more so in this instance since I would have Yoni make the rings with I/J color diamonds to match my center stone.

The last alternative is one I don't have a sample of. As a temporary set, I was going to order a six prong solitaire setting with the Claire band to wear for a year or two, but Yoni doesn't seem to have a six prong on his site. I'll have to ask about that.

Love the tessa set!

Edit - do you have any side views of the 3 stone...there are some lovely 3 stone settings out there but really cant tell
much about this one.

Are the stones in these settings comparable in size to your stone? Three stone rings can vary greatly depending on carat weight of each stone.

Is the haloed stone similar in size to yours?

They're close. This and the halo center CZ are one carat and mine is 1.21 ct. The sides are .26 pts. and I would stick with that size.

Lauren, I *do* like the halo! I would change those side stones to four pointers and the halo stones to two or two and a half pointers and be very happy! (My new pendant will have both .02s and .025s around the center stone. When it comes I'll be able to see those size stones for myself).

The Tessa looks so pretty! I just ordered some try out rings from ED too! Can't wait to see your finished ring.

I like the halo the best! But I am biased. I will always pick the halo over a 3 stone...

They're both lovely, but I'll be in the minority here and say that I prefer the three stone. It looks so classy and elegant on your hand. Plus, the side view is gorgeous and I'm a sucker for nice side views

I also vote for the 3 stone. I think it is more timeless. I absolutely love their idea of making sample rings in sterling for people to try on!

I think that's the greatest idea since sliced bread! and I hope more of our manufacturers start offering the same thing. It makes choosing a setting so much easier if you can see it and try it on in person.

OK, now a downside to the three stone is that my center stone is from an estate ring and the diamond is not cut the way we're used to seeing diamonds these days. I think the side stones will look different and I don't know that I'd be happy with that.

Well, both are beautiful, so I don't think you'd go wrong with either choice.

Having said that, as much as I love three stone rings, I vote for the Tessa.

I was already going to say the Tessa, but this just seals the deal for me!

Love the side view of the 3-stone, that would be my choice.

Another vote for the Tessa set: it looks so feminine on your finger!

gemgirl, you know I love a round in a cushion halo, so that's my first choice. However, if you go with the 3-stone, then you can always put one of your colored stones in the halo. :naughty: Speaking of which, I haven't heard about the latest one yet - was it a keeper?

My new tourmaline is pretty but it's not exctly the same color as the cutter's photo (which was a little more vibrant IMHO). I've been procrastinating about making a final decision, but I'm leaning towards keeping it. When it's set in yellow gold, I think it will bring out the burnt orange in the stone. I have to take photos of it. My house has been so gray and dingy for the last few weeks with the snow and overcast gray skies.

The 3-stone is such a classic beauty! although the halo is really nice....hmmmm....decisions, decisions...I would still go with the 3 stone.
