roseboy, I think you did well. From what I can tell, it isn''t too dark and the color is better than I thought it would be, based on Dan''s pic. I really like the setting too - one of my favorite settings is a round stone in a cushion/square halo. If my DH had given me something like that, I would have been over the moon!

However, I would love to see better pics....

Do you know how to use macro mode (the flower icon) on your point and shoot?

What lady wouldn’t be thrilled with a blazing sparkly stone like that in a diamond halo setting? Great job!

Some pictures - it looks like fanta orange and in others .. brown. Which is more true in real life or do you see both?

Do you think your photos, especially the latter shots, are very true to what the stone looks like in real life? Orange is notoriously difficult to photograph, so I''m just wondering. Also, what lighting did you use (sunlight, artificial light).

I do not think that it is dark from the photos, although I do see some brown in some photos (it could just be the lighting, hopefully its not prominent IRL) but what the heck?:) It''s a pretty piece and most importantly your gf loves it:)

The handshot of her hand was outside daylight. the ones I took on my finger were inside the house with light I tried to take differant angle pics to try and show what the stone looks like.

Its very hard to take pictures because they all end up being differant

I would say the handshot(heres) is what it looks like... till it hits the sun then it a bright orange!
