I voted it makes no difference to me! I will say I''m more inclined to drink hard liquor when I''m at weddings -I''ve been to some weddings with pretty awful wine

LOL purselover! I confess that it depends on the couple--if I know they have good taste in wine, I''ll drink wine, but if not I usually stick to beer or mixed drinks.

If I am somewhere that serves alcohol I usually get a beer or a glass of wine. No matter where I am.

The deciding factor is more than likely going to be time of day and whether or not I have to return to work

I am in the "if I want a drink I will have one, if I don''t, I won''t" camp. I am not a big drinker. That being said, I am more apt to have a drink (generally a wine, beer or G&T) if I am having a nice dinner or lunch and socializing with friends or family (like at a wedding!).

The only thing I ever drink is a glass of wine here and there no matter where I am. I don''t particularly like the taste of any other alcoholic drinks, so it doesn''t really matter where I am, I don''t drink anything else. I''m just as likely to drink a glass of wine at home or at a restaurant as I am at a wedding (ok maybe not a restaurant - so expensive!).

Ditto. I usually try the wine, but if it's bad I stick with beers that I know are good (luckily every wedding seems to have Sam Adams or something similar). I don't like hard alcohol, so I really don't care if it's served at all.

I do like to drink and I'll admit that I feel put out if there's a cash bar. I just don't like paying for drinks at a wedding and I tend to have one and then stop drinking because I can't bear to pay. My cheapness extends to bars - I almost never go to them because I'm too cheap to pay that much for drinks. So my attitude isn't just for weddings and applies to paying for alcohol in general.

I would also be a bit put out if it was a dry wedding, unless I knew the couple was totally against drinking in general for religious or cultural reasons. If it was just a cost saving move, I would wonder why they didn't just spend a little less on flowers or something.

I''m more inclined to drink at a wedding than I am at a bar because a) the weddings I''ve been to have all included some sort of transportation, so I don''t have to worry about driving and b) I don''t have to worry about the sorts of things that generally happen at a bar - no smoking, no groping, no pick up lines, no dealing with people I don''t like. I can really relax because I''m around friends, and people have been on pretty good behaviour.

Plus, what is there to celebrate at a bar? Somebody doing shots?

the one thing my fi is insisting on for our wedding is an open bar, which in turn means that as long as the alcohol is flowing i can have everything else my way. helllllllllloooo pink wedding!

Weddings are a reason to celebrate! That being said, I''ll have a drink whenever I want to, wherever I want to (provided it''s an acceptable environment, of course). I don''t drink any more or less at a wedding than at a bar, or a party, or a sporting event.

Ditto RaiKai.

I''m also more apt to drink if everyone else is, too. So if I''m out to dinner and my friends order water, water, and iced tea...I''m probably not going to drink, I''ll probably get an iced tea as well. But if we''re out and someone orders wine, beer, cocktail...then I''ll join in. (And usually I work it so I''m the last to order.

I usually read the crowd at a wedding for an indication of how much alcohol would be appropriate to consume. For some of my friends'' weddings, the only form of alcohol present was for the champagne toast. At other weddings, it wouldn''t seem odd to see someone doing a keg stand ;-) I really love the diversity of styles that my friends have. Anyway, the point is that I usually just match the mood of the reception. The same goes for bar settings.

I drink when and where I want, but I voted for option two for this reason. When I go to a wedding, I hate when they don''t serve alcohol. Even if it''s just one champagne toast, that''s great, I really just HATE it if there is nothing, not even a cash bar option (which I also disdain). Yep, it''s not anyone else''s job or requirement to furnish me with alcohol, I totally understand and respect that. But, all of the weddings that I''ve been to that didn''t have alcohol were rather on the ''ho-hum'' side, because people never really relaxed and got to partying and dancing. Most people end up leaving early... and end up in the bar with the other wedding guests! The last wedding that I attended, people were sneaking out to their cars to drink!

So, in the spirit of weddings and celebratory receptions, I vote for alcohol! Not to get trashed, but enough to take the edge off...

I don''t drink very often either - but I''m a lot more likely to have a drink when socialising or celebrating

I''ve ordered a non-alcoholic beverage at a bar plenty of times. But I''ve yet to attend a wedding and not get, at the very minimum, a glass of wine.

It''s clear by the poll results that most of us are strong-willed women who will have a drink...or not...if and when we feel like it.

Makes no difference!! Actually, I may end up drinking less at a wedding if there is a lot to do...or I''m catching up with people I haven''t seen in a while...or I want to remember the event.

I will say, if I''m bored, I''d probably drink more (get the party started!!)...but that goes for anywhere...bar, etc.

Makes no difference to me. If I''m in the mood for a drink at a wedding I''ll go for one. Same with a night out in a bar.
