Can anyone help?
I live in England and will be travelling to various parts of the U.S. in May, accompanied by my girlfriend of 5 years. We''re spending several days in Vegas and I''m plucking up the courage to ask her to marry me whilst there. As I don''t know the place at all can anyone suggest some cool proposal ideas

Thanks to anyone who can think of something.

Someone I know propsed in front of the Bellagio, where the huge musical fountain is (see Ocean's 11 remake). However, inside, there is a terrific restaurant that also looks over the same fountain. If it's in the budget, you could do it in there.

Whatever you do... stay away from the New York, NY roller coaster. At least until AFTER you give her the ring. I dropped my cell phone when I was on it last time! But it sure was fun.

PS: If you plan on doing it inside at a gaming table (who knows, maybe?), DO NOT put the ring in the betting circle. I'm sure Vegas WILL take it if you lose!

The Venetian has a gondola ride that winds through the shopping part of the hotel. While I was there, I saw a gentleman propose to his lady while on the boat. It was rather romantic, and a choice I was thinking of until my g/f and I witnessed this. Not totally original, but still quite romantic IMHO. Good Luck!

Thanks for the reply. you mentioned proposing on a Gondola by a shopping mall. does the Gondola route take past busy / brightly lit shops? Not sure if that would be the most romantic. Please correct me if I'm wrong?

Across from the bellagio (which has beautiful water/musical shows) Is the Eifel tower restaurant. You travel up in an elevator to the top and there is really nice restaurant. It has views of the entire strip (beautiful at night!) Good luck!

THe stratosphere is a TALL hotel/casino with a restaurant at the very top. THe hotel/casino itself isn't great, but the restaurant is very nice and the views are spectacular.

yes -- the gondola is in a shopping area with many people -- it's not my idea of romance, but everyone is different

.

I like the eifle restaurant idea. Also, someone said there is an opservation point at the top of the tower -- that also might be nice.

My boyfriend just proposed to me in Las Vegas last week. I couldn't imagine a greater proposal. We went out to see a band and towards the end of the night he told me he had to go to the bathroom and would be gone for a while. The band played their last song and asked if a young lady (my name) could please come up on the stage. I saw an Elvis impersonator up there. When I got up there I realized the Elvis impersonator was my boyfriend (he rented the costume wig and glasses in Vegas). He had the microphone and told the audience (in a voice like Elvis) "Everyone knows I'm the king, but what you good people don't know is that I want to make this little mama my Queen". He pulled out a ring box opened it turned to me and said "Cindy -----, will you marry me and wear my jailhouse rock?" Fell down on one knee, head down, holding the microphone up to me in one hand and the ring in the other. The crowd in the bar was hooting and howling! It was great!

I saw several proposals on the gondola ride at The Venetian. It was very romantic....the shops are higher up and not at all distracting (of course I'm a shopper so I might be biased!). The gondola drivers sing these beautiful Itallian love songs during the ride. I also saw a big wedding on the bridge above the gondala lake...it was beautiful! Anyway, just another opinion. Vegas is loaded with great spots for popping that big question! Good luck!

Hi there,
Thanks to everyone who nbothered to posta message, all the advice has been useful. Me and my better half are travelling to Vegas for England in less than 2 weeks and I'm still a little confused. I think the Eiffel Tower idea may work, proposing on the observation point overlooking Vegas and then going for dinner in the restaurant. I'm just concerned that it could be too crowded up there and i'd end up haveing an audience when getting down on one knee! does anyone know whther the compnay that run the tower offer a service for proposals e.g. bottle of champagne on cue or some kind of speciual treatment, I do after all want it to be something to rememeber as I don't plan on doing it again!
Also, can someoine confirm that it is a spoeacial view as we've been up the one in Paris and that was ok, a bit too high for me so I tended to cling to the central area of the tower.
any advice, knowledge welcome
Cheers,

You're best bet is to call the Paris Hotel concierge and ask if they have any special things they do.

I haven't been up there, but it is not as high as the real tower, and at night the lights of the strip are someting unique.
