Replacing my diamond with a sapphire?

So I'm upgrading my engagement ring and will sell my current 1.2 Asscher on consignment. Do you think a blue sapphire will look good in the middle of this setting? I'm having a baby boy in February so I thought it would be a nice homage to him

I'm open to suggestion of what to do though... thanks!

I know how that is! I buy maybe one nice piece a year (and by nice I mean around $1000, I am still in school!) but in that year I always add about 5-6 things to my wishlist...

Just keep in mind that aquamarine is much softer than sapphire. Aqua is around 7.5-8 on the Mohs scale while sapphire is 9 (diamond is 10), therefore aqua would need to be babied quite a bit more to avoid damage.

what are the price differences between sapphires and aquamarines? is it pretty big or are they similar in cost?
