I didn''t want to hijack Sum''s thread,
(by the way, dks'' solution is perfect... like the "with" instead of escort- sort of made me think of escort service- which is why i now have the following questions:
I''m drafting this tonight so really need help!

1) My parents are both deceased. My brother is escorting me down the aisle. How do I list him?
right now I have officiant, then parents of the groom, then our attendants,

2) We are not having maid of honor, bridesmaid, bestman terms since we only have 3 bms (my sisters) and 2 groomsmen that are sharing the best man duties. I really like the term Honor Attendant, but should I list
Honor Attendants, then all their names in a row,
I originally had Bride''s attendants, Groom''s attendants but don''t like the looks of that....help!
thanks

I think "Honor Attendants" as the heading will work. List the girls first and then the guys. Are all their names obvious to their gender? You can also specify your relationship to them. I did it as Susie Dogood, College Friend of the Bride or Jimmy Joe, Brother of the Groom. That made it obvious even without the "Bridesmaids" and "Groomsmen" headings.

As far as your brother goes, Maybe "Escorting the Bride" is less icky?

I didn''t have a wedding...so I am picturing what I would use to describe MY big brother and his aiding me. It would be more like...shagging, or dragging his favorite method was by my hair, he was a good brother and sometimes he protected me so I could use guarding, some times he bird dogged me and there were times when I had boy problems he was my hired henchman...but most of the time he was like a warden. He protected me and kept me from harm.

In your case, I like escort. You are the bride as if you are the princess. You will be the focal point and it doesn''t have a negative connotation as I feel the other one did. Age and position in the ceremony protect all thoughts of "gigolo" and escort is usually what is used at for wedding describing the father anyway...isn''t it?

I found this description for you and included noun use and verb alike.

noun: the act of accompanying someone or something in order to protect them
noun: an attendant who is employed to accompany someone
noun: someone who escorts and protects a prominent person
noun: a participant in a date
verb: accompany as an escort (Example: "She asked her older brother to escort her to the ball")
verb: accompany or escort

more:
emthup.gif
a man or boy who accompanies a woman or girl in public, as to a social event.

On another site I found this sentence...and look what is directly below it...
A man who is the companion of a woman, especially on a social occasion.
emthdown.gif
A person, often a prostitute, who is hired to spend time with another as a companion.

If you are still anti escort use, have you considered Accompanying?

The Bride is Accompanied by her Brother

Accompanying the Bride is her loving brother Booger Head.

If the father is deceased with respect:

Honoring the memory of the father the Bride is presented by her Brother.

I like presented too, Ladyciel had a great idea.

Hmmm...

If you are traditional, you could list him as "giving away the bride" -- unless that makes you feel like the Showcase Showdown on the Price is Right.

Perhaps "Walking Labbie down the aisle"?

"Escorting her down the aisle" ?

Ladyciel may have the winner here, though.

LOL! Maybe I could get the organist to play the theme song and have FI yell "Come on down" when I enter the church
that''s hysterical

Thank you everyone for all of these helpful suggestions-

I ended up with listing my sisters all as Honor Attendants,
and then FI really wanted Groomsmen for both his guys, so that solved that.

Since we have sort of a column setup on the program page, I ended up doing this for my bro,
listing him not with the parents of the groom, but after the groomsmen

Escort of the Bride................Bro''s Name
Brother of the Bride underneath his name (same as we listed sister of the bride, and friend of the groom ,etc.

Then on the very bottom of the wedding party page I''m putting In loving memory of those celebrating with us today in spirit, especially Mom and Dad Labbie, Parents of the Bride.

That way my folks are still listed on the wedding party page, but not under the grooms parents as the Late Mr and Mrs. (that sort of creeped me out)

thanks again!!! 6 more days...

Yeah...and what is the name of the long time...(since passed) announcer? on price is right?

Or this may be before you time...but Jonny Carson had Ed Mcmahon(sp) announce him as....

Heeeeerrrrrrrreeeeeeeessssss Johnnnnnnn kneeeee!! He he.

Labbie...tell us about your brother. What type of relationship do you have with him? Are you close in age? Was it playful? Can it be here? No I don't mean hire a disco ball and DJ but maybe the term can be more personal than using what is expected?

we are not close in age at all, he is 17 years older.
we are not that close either, really, he lives halfway across the country and has since i was 5.
we do however all (6 of us siblings, which is rare)get along,
so until the programs go to print I may play between escort of the bride,
or accompanying the bride

mmmm....i think i like accompanying better.

oh- and i can''t play around too much- it''s a catholic ceremony!

Oooo...you are right. You don''t want to be slapped on the wrist with a ruler!! No playtime. straighten up...and quit slouching!
Sorry too many movies with sisters watching over the students. Suppose I am stereotyping!

Did you say your were going to provide his relation to you? As in brother of the bride in some form? If so, you''ll be OK choosing any phrase you feel comfortable. Really.

Ha Ha! I remember a couple of those nuns in grade school ;-)

We refer to our ceremony as "Catholic light"- i.e. not a full mass, ceremony only. Still will last around 40 mins or so. Luckily our officiant is a dear family friend, the dad of my best friend since 2nd grade is an ordained deacon and he''s like a 2nd father to me. So we had the say over the ceremony (within reason of course).

We are both fairly traditional anyway, so unfortunately the Price is Right theme won''t hold,
but I do have to say it made me laugh really hard.

Programs are drafted and look gorgeous. My brother is listed as "Accompanying the Bride" Name, brother of the bride.
Perfect- thank you everyone!!
