What should I do with this little Fella?

I got this little fella on ebay a few weeks back, the price was to good to pass up and he is quite the little chunky monkey.

fullsizerender-35_0.jpg

he is a little lighter in natural light. I'd say a creamy champagne

I want to do something special with him. Originally I was thinking of using him for my Golden snitch project, and I still might. But I think for that project I should go a deeper gold, and try and get more round.

so If I don't use him for that anyone have any fun cute ideas. I'm open to anything.

He's 14.0x12.6MM and has very light blemishes, barely noticeable.

You have wondered into the South Sea world, that is a path I fear to tread.

ugh I know!! The tahitians are eating up my bank account ALIVE!! But I do love them! I figured I'd dip my little toe in and get something less extravagant then what I wish I could afford **cough cough 36" rope of freeform baroque silvery blueish white SSP 13-18mm COUGH*** ;))

Taking inspiration from one of 4RG's necklaces, the one with the "surprise" Kasumi ... you can add your Chunky Monkey as a "surprise" in a strand of something else.

Or, use it as one of the tails on your loose-pearl lariat project.

Or, simply drill it with an eye pin and wear it as a pendant.

It's gorgeous!

I vote for a yellow gold ring (simple, classic band) or pedant.

I like this idea!

A pendant on rough gemstone beads?

I'm leaning towards a pendant. I can't really wear pearl rings much to my dismay (aside from mage pearls) because I am clumsy and knock my hands on EVERYTHING. a pendant seems like it would be best, and I love the idea of rough gems. I;d want it to be something fun and less traditional. similar to some of the pendants and necklaces on Kojima Pearls.

I still may use it for my golden snitch project. So who knows

RE a pendant on gemstone strands
A regular eye-pin will fit over smaller rondels, like labradorite or spinel, but not over chips, like apatite. Also, it probably won't fit over 3mm pearls. Another option is to get an enhancer bail, and then you can clip it onto a toggle clasp for the larger gemstones.

Another option is to set the pearl with an eye pin, and invest in a charm clip.

I'm voting for pendant :) Bail is a good idea..then you can get it to fit over most anything. You can get a pearl bail for it..a pin with bail attached or as suggested get an eye pin and then attach to bail. I think you are right in thinking that a bit deeper gold for the snitch.

I think that champagne colour is quite pretty ! He is a little chunky monkey !

I love it!! :appl:

It's sort of like a stick pin, too? A hat pin? Tie pin?

I vote for the pendant, hanging long on a chain for a styling option.

Oh I also like this idea!

I really like long hanging pendants!

fullsizerender_37.jpg

believe that is a 30 inch chain, although I'd probably go for 24-26inches

Here's a cheaper option, the gold weight is less.

One thing you should check is the wire diameter of the pin and whether it will be too thick for your pearl. I purchased a few bails before but the wires were too thick for my loose pearls.

that is pretty!

He is undrilled right now, so Id either have to drill it (been figuring out a good way to set up a little pearl/bead drilling rig) or get it drilled, so if I got the bail first, I could probably take it in and have them drill the correct sized hole if I do not do it myself

I like the idea of yellow gold, but I'm not sure if 14K or higher carat YG would look best.

I really like the oxidized silver / pave diamond trend. I was thinking maybe an interesting bail with that

Sounds good too, and a long oxidised silver chain?

still looking at silver oxidized bails or bead caps, but then I thought it might be neat to find an older gold and diamond edwardian pendant and add this as a dangle at the bottom? thoughts?

still considering what to do. I think I either want to find a really unique oxidized silver and pave bail or add it to a killer piece of vintage jewelry. I can't find ANY good pave bail, and the ones I do find, I don;t trust the diamonds to stay in. so I may go with adding it to a pre-existing piece.

I have been looking on auctions, easy and estate sales for something and I have narrowed it down too 4 different choices. not these EXACT pieces, but what I might try and find. Let me know what you think.

Gold seed pearl heart pendant with the pearl as a drop on the bottom

Add pearl as a drop to a cameo

project03.jpg

add pearl to an antique filigree pendant

project04.jpg

or add it to a victorian seed pearl burst like pendant brooch

I like the last option the best! I also like the filigree one, but I'm not sure white metal will suit your pearl.
