Dancing Fire,
i really like the his/her styles...its amazing how the price of Rolex just keeps on climbing...i would rally like to buy a new model with solid links and diamond dial but i will have to be happy with my my current model with blue dial....Question for rolex owners...do people always ask if its real and what it cost. When i am working in a jewelry store it is a constant question for me from customers but its a great conversation starter out side the store when people ask about my watch or other jewelry.

DF,
Please help me find a restorer for mine. It's a circa 1930s rose gold piece.

I would send my Rolex back to a Rolex repair center only.I just had my fathers cleaned and polished in December. It is expensive and takes 4-6 weeks but worth it.Iwould not trust just any watch repair with a rolex because many dont really know how to properly work on high end timepieces even when they say they can do it cheaper...there are over 200 parts in a Rolex and many parts can omly be provided by rolex themselves to keep watch in running order. There are several repair centers thruogh out the world.i send mine to Texas.

Hi jewelerman,
I would, but the Rolex centre here won''t repair vintage Rolexes.

Sorry to hear that! What reason did they give you?I know that some parts are no longer in production on some watches over 30 years old...when was your model manufactured?

I see its a 1930s model...the movement was probably purchased from another watch movement manufactor. They make all of their own movements today,so I see the problem because they wont work on any movement they cant back up.Im sorry i cant help!

I finally took some pictures of my vintage Rolex! I''m late but hopefully people will still look at this thread! It''s an Oyster Perpetual Datejust in the men''s size. It''s stainless steel and from the 60s or 70s.

Hmm, it looks really blurry...I think that must have happened when I resized. Here''s another one-let''s see how this turned out.

Okay, that was better. I think I took the other one in Macro mode-maybe that's why? I'm going to try to crop it and reattach. Here's one more for now:

ETA that I think that's the same pic but not blurry...oh well-you get the idea!

Thanks, Sharon! I love the size, too-I feel funny in smaller women's watches-they're too dainty for me! I bought this for myself from my former boss, actually. He is a bit of a watch collector and so is his father, and this one was originally his father's. It's in great shape-it was actually a lot better before I got it! I've put several scratches on the dial.

But I wear it everyday, so oh well-that's bound to happen!

And thank you for the hand compliment!

Dancing fire,
i am very sorry to here about your loss!I used to wear my 18kt/stainless model (circa2000)a great deal until i was attacked on the public transit system coming home from a job interview last year.I feel lucky that i still have my watch and rings, but they dont get the wear that they deserve because of this experiance.I hope you were able to replace your watch.
