I'm thinking of buying my daughter a nice sapphire birthstone ring. I came across a very nice, vintage small 3 stone sapphire ring of .65 carats, with 15 point diamond side stones. The ring is from a known company and is of very high quality. I would rate the chances of the sapphire being natural at 60-70%. Even if the stone is synthetic you can't buy a comparable semi mount for the cost of the ring. Once I confirm her ring size, I may get it for her, if it's within sizing parameters. Some one tell me if a three stone ring can still be considered a birthstone ring or if I should refer to it as a right hand ring.

If one Googles for birthstone rings, one will find images of many ring designs, including 3-stone rings.

And who is to say one cannot wear a birthstone ring on the right hand as a right hand ring?

Or on which finger?

I'd say wear what one likes and ignores any rules or conventional customs.

I have worn a ring on my wedding ring finger ever since my mum gave me a sapphire and diamond band when I was just 11 (my birthstone is Amethyst).

I had CS rings made to fit that finger now that I am on my own.

DK :))
