My favorite wine is Ménage à Trois Red. I'm a pretty cheap date...you can get a bottle for about $8 at Costco. We just installed a new wall wine rack, and DH insisted we get some bottles to fill it up. Which is torture, seeing how I won't be able to drink them until September or so.

Wow, I'm very surprised the average is so low, near $11.

I guess I'm a cheap date too. I buy Menage a trois tor special occasions. My everyday wine is Yellowtail shiraz which you can at most places for around $5. At costco it runs $8 for a large 2 liter bottle.

Since moving to the DC area, we have really become very acquainted with Virginia wines -- especially the Viognier and the Vidal Blanc from various Virginia wineries. Oh my! I'm definitely not a wine person, but I can easily drink those two! One of our favorite Virginia wine brands is Barboursville, which by the way, is what was served to the Queen when she visited! Ha! Another good one is "Cow" from Bluemont winery. They name all their wines after farm animals.

That is so interesting! Do you buy those at the winery or at local wine shops? I'm in DC and pretty clueless when it comes to wine.

OMG, someone's average ordinary ho-hum home wine price is over $100.

Man, woman, young, old, ugly, beautiful . . . you may adopt me today.

$20-$30. We drink plenty of $15 bottles, but we also are members of a couple of wine clubs and those are more expensive.

We haven't found much we like under $10, but we are always trying new things in the hopes of finding something for weekday dinners.

Same here! I have only tasted 1 bottle of wine that was over 250$....I like my 20-30$ wines and even my 10$ wines! :)

My go to wine is Polka Dot :lickout:

When I was 12, I had a sip of a $400 bottle of red wine. That was in the '70's so, I guess that would be at least an $800 bottle today. My family was out to dinner with another family, and the host was trying to impress us. Honeywell was picking up the tab. The restaurant was a steakhouse in the southeast (US) and it had one of the most extensive cellars in the country (still does). They had thousands of bottles, with prices up to $1500 a bottle (something about a wine that involved Napoleon?). It was quite the wine list, about 2 inches thick. So, I had this one little sip . . .

It was amazing.

I still remember it; it was fruity, and oakey, and delicious. Not at all dry, and not heavy or thin. There seemed to be a bunch of different flavors, and they all took turns on my tastebuds. I could drink that stuff all day.

Ever since then, I've really been pretty unimpressed with wine. For some reason, red wines seem to be just clingy, sourish stuff covered in "red", and white wines seem thin and tart. This is in bottles ranging from $8 to $90+. So, I'll drink it for social reasons, but not for pleasure.

Ruined by my first freakin' sip.
