Law Will Allow Employers to Fire Women for Using Whore Pills

A proposed new law in Arizona would give employers the power to request that women being prescribed birth control pills provide proof that they're using it for non-sexual reasons. And because Arizona's an at-will employment state, that means that bosses critical of their female employees' sex lives could fire them as a result. If we could harness the power of the crappy ideas coming out of the state of Arizona, we could probably power a rocket ship to the moon, where there are no Mexicans or fertile wombs and everyone can be free to be as mean a cranky ******* as they want at all times! Arizona Heaven!

Yesterday, a Senate Judiciary Committee endorsed Republican Debbie Lesko's HB2625 by a vote of 6-2, which would allow an employer to request proof that a woman using insurance to buy birth control was being prescribed the birth control for reasons other than not wanting to get pregnant. It's all about freedom, she said, echoing everyone who thinks there's nothing ironic about claiming that a country that's "free" allows people's bosses to dictate what medical care is available to them through insurance. First amendment. The constitution. Rights of religious people to practice the treasured tenets of their faiths, the tenets that dictate that religious people get to tell everyone who is not of faith how they're supposed to live, and the freedom to have that faith enforced by law. Freedom®.

Further, Lesko states, with a straight face, that this bill is necessary because "we live in America; we don't live in the Soviet Union."

Ah, yes, the Soviet Union. The sort of place where a woman might think about getting birth control through an insurance plan to which she contributes premiums without having to show her boss her prescription in order to prove that she wasn't using it to not get pregnant. The Soviet Union. A hellscape where women don't run the risk of losing their jobs over their sexual practices. What a horrible, awful place where herds of sluts run wild like feral ponies, humping everything in sight. The nightmare of unwilling motherhood evaded is a constant spectre in The Motherland.

Anyway, this bill probably won't get anywhere; it violates all sorts of privacy laws and I can't imagine that female citizens of Arizona would be in favor of having their rights further legislated away by a chamber of mostly dudes trying to win votes from Team Jerk Version of Jesus. But that doesn't make it any less depressing. In fact, it's almost depressing enough to make a lady consider building a time machine so that she can take it back to 1985 and find some job security in the Soviet Union.

Re: Use birth control pills to prevent pregnancy? You're fir

Hi,

I want to also include the new Texas law that mandates that each woman seeking an abortion must have an internal procedure to show a picture of the fetus before an abortion can be done. They will not do it from the stomach, but must be done internally. What do you make of the good ole boys in Texas. Another way to rape a woman.

Awful.

There is a population in this country that is getting harder to understand.

Yeah, I'll be right behind that law as soon as they enact the one where men have to prove that their prescriptions for Viagra aren't so that they can get erections.

I hope men have to prove they are only using Viagra to get pregnant too and not for casual sex.

Wouldn't employers be smarter to demand female employees to use contraceptive to prevent pregnancy? I have never once heard of a company complaining that women don't take enough maternity leave.

I trust you're all catching the sarcasm in this bill - it's not intended as a new law, but as a statement.

A bunch of male lawmakers are in a pissingmatch to see who is the best christian despite none of them really being in anyway christlike.

I like that there are a bunch of female lawmakers trying to make vasectomy only allowed if its a matter of life and death. There were a few various versiosn of that, viagra, vasectomy, something else, only if you would die without it or something.

Pretty unreal. It's impressive that Republican lawmakers somehow fail to see the irony in invoking freedom while either restricting women's access to necessary medical care or forcing women to have totally unnecessary medical procedures such as a transvaginal ultrasound. Note: I've had a transvaginal ultrasound and they are not fun.

How are these idiots failing to remember that it takes TWO to have sex and get pregnant. Are the men going to have to prove that they are not having sex with anyone who is using contraception gotten from insurance for the purposes of preventing pregnancy too? Completely ludicrous, backwards, invasive... gah, every bad word I can think of. :angryfire:

Virginia tried to pass what was substantially the same law, but it was met with outrage, and also ridicule. Jon Stewart had a field day with it. Hilarious:

http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/tue-february-21-2012/punanny-state---virginia-s-transvaginal-ultrasound-bill

So Virginia passed a similar law, but it doesn't go as far as Texas. Virginia Governor McDonnell, a possible Republican vice presidential contender in 2012 (yikes!), signed the bill after he and Republican lawmakers backed away from requiring a vaginal probe in some cases. The probe was mandatory in the original legislation, but will now be offered by the doctor when the abdominal ultrasound cannot determine the age of the fetus. Fetal age is almost never ascertainable by abdominal ultrasound in the first trimester of pregnancy, experts say. [So I guess instead of "offered", it should really say "required" anyway.]

Virginia allows women to decline to view the image; Texas, Oklahoma and North Carolina require women to hear the provider's verbal description of the ultrasound.

That's the only way to see a pregnancy early on. Most docs don't switch to abdominal ultrasounds until you're further along.

Honestly, I'm starting to feel like there is a War on Women. :angryfire: (I have never felt the need to use that emotie before.)

I guess they ran out of terrorists.

And yes, I agree, men need to prove that the Viagra is only for reproductive purposes, and not "just for sex". Those whores.

And they need to have a trans-rectum ultrasound to show them an image of their under-performing equipment. :Up_to_something:

These people are starting to Tick. Me. Off. :(

So..then women should band together and NOT HAVE SEX. Not w/their husbands, their fiances, boyfriends, nobody. It won't be too long before the men are sportin the ole blue balls and remembering just how not fun that is, and they'll realize the folly of their ways.

It's one of those days where I'm glad to be self-employed and not have the fear of answering to my employer about any type of medication I may or may not be taking for any particular reason or purpose.

So now some enterprising pharmaceutical company will combine the pill with a tooth whitener, probably getting a 17 year patent out of it for the new combination. Then the dentist will prescribe these tooth whitening pills that have a contraceptive side effect.

I'm disappointed in Arizona. I lived there for almost five years and yes it was very conservative but one had a feeling that deep down it was a live and let live kind of place. I wouldn't even travel there today let alone live there. :nono:

These things always remind me of the Saint Peter at the Gate of Heaven jokes: "So God gave you life and free will... and THIS is what you have to show for it? False piety, doing the devil's work while invoking HIS name, and harassing half of God's children: women, for all your life? You are at the WRONG GATE buddy... ever heard what the road to hell is paved with? Just follow that road you you'll get your 'reward.' Enjoy!"

Wow...I don't even know what to say. This is the most absurd proposal I have ever heard. I'm shocked. Talk about recongising a woman's worth...

This is making me so angry just reading it again.
