well, if you didn't plan on going may i suggest that you change your mind......
color stone cabs that hold their own with the diamonds......
and my lust for the ring on Liz's pinky finger knows no bounds: https://www.pricescope.com/blog/elizabeth-taylors-bvlgari-sapphire-sautoir-september sugar loaf sapphire with a diamond setting that is exquisite.
advice: TAKE A MAGNIFYING GLASS! it will work with almost all the exhibits. forget your loupe. I was the only one in the place with a magnifying glass and everyone was saying "why didn't I think of that?".
no, I didn't take pictures........this is something that must be seen IRL. even their picture postcards don't do any of the pieces justice.
and i'm amazed at how many people there didn't know what stones they were actually viewing! I was asked if I was a jeweler and if not why not........
great exhibit for those that love color stones.......and diamonds as well.

Oh boy would I love to go! I'm glad a PSer gets to anyway, MZ. The exhibit must be blinding! In the best way. Nothing interesting like that ever comes to the backwater I live in. I'll get my thrills vicariously. The pinky ring isn't too shabby but I'd almost kill for that bracelet!

I am envious! And surprised they didn't provide mag glasses. The last two museums I went to with gold coin or jewel exhibits had them.

this picture does not do the ring justice: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/15058979974123323/

and on this page go about 2/3's of the page down: http://www.thejewelleryeditor.com/2...rs-elizabeth-taylor-bulgari-jewels-in-cannes/

at the liz taylor Christie's auction the ring sold for $866,500: http://www.christies.com/lotfinder/...diamond-trombino-ring-by-5507946-details.aspx

as stunning as the jewelry was, this is a ring I would wear every time I left the house; hence, my obsession!

it really is worth the effort to see this exhibit!

there is also a heavy big chain set with real coins from King Henry VIII's reign through George III's.

Towards the end of that page there's a picture with the caption "Elizabeth Taylor and Burton, a jeweled love affair." If I'm not mistaken, that's actually Eddie Fischer in that photo... when he gave her that necklace?

In any event, I'm looking forward to seeing this exhibit. Thank you for the magnifying glass suggestion!
