Here''s a red Calvin Klein number. How much do you want to spend?

I saw someone in that dress just today and couldn''t help complimenting her. Don''t ask me why she felt compelled to do this, but.. she mentioned that it was a size 16, and I would never have guessed it. Just one word of caution: I''ve tried that dress or a Calvin very much like it on in my size. It''s poly lined and the outer shell is on the heavy side, so it could be a bit warm for, say, an outdoor wedding. But all those vertical pintucks are very flattering!

Agreed, it''s totally adorable and I would have snapped it up in a second, but it''s sold out. Where''s that ''major overreaction alert'' emotie?

Monkey Pie I LOVE the dress you posted and am trying to think of an excuse to wear it/buy it

Galateia-I hear you! flip your top and bottom measurements and you have me, although I think my waist has grown another inch over the past two months
38.gif
I''m definitely not thrilled with my measurements, but I have to say, esp. dressed up, I get a lot of great feedback (and not just from my DH
2.gif
So, flaunt your curves and work the room:)

I am not sure how tall you are. I am 5''8 with abnormally long legs, so if I toss on a pair of tall heels I pretty much look like an amazon and all anyone notices are long legs and big boobs:)

Spanx are great, but I have to say the best shaper I found was at Vicorias Secret it smooths you out, but doesn''t have that super binding.suffocating feeling that spanx can give. You have tons of gorgeous dress options here, so I think you should pick the one you like the best and in the color you think looks best on you. I am sure you will look gorgeous!!!!

Gala -

You will be gorgeous no matter WHAT!!!
a dress in this style would be beautiful on you - light and flowy, you could dress it up with nice jewelry!!

I''m 5''6", so high heels make me look like a manatee with really flashy stilts.

I should have mentioned that I LOOOOVE black. I am also forbidding myself from having a dress with a strong black element to it. No black prints, tiny amounts of black detailing are OK if the dress is a colour, but his family knows me as a primarily-black-shirt-or-dress-wearer, so I really want a serious POP of colour to offset going to a day wedding with a black shrug.
2.gif

I am wearing heels anyway, btw, because a manatee on stilts is better than a manatee on wheels.

No, but it looks like it could be awesome!

Edit: I am googling reviews, and they look positive so far.

Second Edit: YIKES! The reviews are about 10% positive, and otherwise horrible. Bad quality, bad workmanship, random sizing, terrible 'custom' sizing, long wait times, refusing returns, and poor customer service. Stay away, the shinies on the site are a lieeee!

Well Missy, stop being so negative, you are blessed with an hour glass figure and dress it right and you will look like a million bucks!

I have a similar figure and suggest you look for these features in your dress:

1: Nice wide straps for a really good supportive bra
2: Empire waist or wear a little sweater or jacket with a belt that sits a little below the breasts on the thinnest part of your waist
3: Length just below the knee if you have chubby knees or thighs, just above the knee if legs are thinner
4: A line skirt with a little volume to it swooshes when you walk
5: Heels to elongate the leg
6. Attitude. Marilyn Monroe was not all that thinner in Some Like it Hot, remember.

The one that Kama posted is great, I personally would want an even more flared skirt with movement.

Here are some styles I would wear:

http://www.lanebryant.com/dresses-skirts/dresses/button-front-floral-shirt-dress/4031c13873p58417/index.pro?Mcatn=Dresses&Mcatpn=Dresses+%26+Skirts&Mcatg=category_root&Mcatp=cat_4031%406000&Mcat=13873%406000

Add a wide belt to this one:

btw, does anyone know how much it cost?

I would seriously wear the ruffled dress Thing2of2 posted in blue in a nanosecond with my fuchsia heels, woot! Hmm...my friend''s wedding is coming up. Wonder if I can convince DH I need a new dress...

Nevermind, I lied. I thought NewportNews.com had a better selection of plus sizes than they do. They do have one of my favorite dresses, however, in plus: flattering! Their size 18 is pretty large however, they don't consider it plus but it is definitely close to a small plus size IMO.

I''m SO SORRY that Calvin Klein dress is sold out. I didn''t realize it when I posted but went back to look at it for myself & realized. Spent quite a bit of time trying to find alternate vendors of it (apparently it was also available in Khaki at one time) but came up empty. I feel your overreaction pain!

Thought I''d pop back in to offer some inspiration though. There are a few fun blogs of plus sized gals out there that are totally awesome.

Here is one and here is another and this one is in French but eye candy nonetheless.

It''s very pretty, but it''s going to be way too much boobage. Anything with a deep wrap like that (and I have several) is going to turn into porntown as soon as I wrestle my girls into it. I dislike the look of a tank or cami under a v-neck (would rather just have a scoop or square neck dress if it''s going to have that line anyway with the tank) so it won''t work.

Pretty though!

Really cute! This would be nice for a wedding!

This also adorable and I love the colour, but see how the model has to lift her arms to make it look like her boobs aren''t halfway exposed? (see above post) Wrap dresses are fantastic and flattering, but if you''re chesty, they''re too revealing unless they''re built to have a very high v-neck.

Seriously loving this dress. I know you worry about cleavage, but I personally have no problem either wearing a lacy cami or using a teensy bit of double sided boob tape and callin'' it an adventure, haha! I''ve been on a kick forever with wanting either a navy or purple dress as an alternative to black, so this has possibilities!

I hear ya. I have the same problem with the escaping cleavage. I have an antique brooch pinned on the bodice to keep it together actually.

I have this dress in black and was wearing it today. It has the lining and a heavier linen-type outside. Calvin Klein has some cute plus sized dresses, and they sell them at Nordstroms. I, however, have found them at Ross for a very reasonable price. They were probably previous years'' styles when I found them. Good luck!

$138. I just clicked on the link, and it looks like it's available again, but just in one size and only in khaki.

I just wanted to pop in and say that one of the most beautiful women I know IRL is a "plus size", so please don't feel in any way "inferior" to Miss Size 2 or anyone else.

You are gonna SHINE in your beautiful new dress. Walk in with your head held high, a big genuine smile on your face, and KNOCK 'EM DEAD, girlfriend!

Galateia, I feel your pain but your measurements sound great. You have a nice hourglass figure and should dress to accentuate your small waist
1.gif

I am plus-sized too but more on the straight-like-a-board type with no real curves.... But I have been looking at Talbots and the dresses look super cute. Maybe a little on the expensive side but I am not sure what your looking for.
http://www1.talbots.com/online/browse/category_landing_galleryview.jsp?id=cat80018&rootCategory=cat70012&section=Regular&conceptIdUnderSale=

now if someone could direct me to really cute wide shoes (actual wide!) I would be happy

I am looking through their stuff now! Basically, I am looking for a brightly-coloured dress that''s knee-length and that doesn''t expose my cleavage and will go under a black shrug.

For wide shoes, I recommend Sofft as they have several cute styles, are amazing comfortable, high-quality, and come in narrow, regular, and wide sizes.
