Agreed! Step cuts aren't my cup of tea, but the gradation looks better to my eye too

That ring has been kind of a mystery to those of us who post at the Royal Jewels forum. Nobody (on the internet) seems to have any information about the color of the diamonds. We're also looking for a picture of the ring taken under studio conditions as opposed to "in situation" (I will say FC's picture is the best one that seems to exist). I personally am trying to find Cartier's archive picture. In the 30's they took pictures of important pieces for important clients (Kate's wedding tiara for example). They might not have taken one of this because it was "just" a ring. Dunno. But any new information about this ring would certainly be welcome at the Royal Jewels thread. Sorry for getting off topic.
