So I have a sapphire that was poorly cut; after Jerry reviewed it, he suggested trying a compromise of angles and said he'd know very quickly if a more drastic recut was needed. I was hoping to be able to keep the same halo setting and Jerry was able to keep it at the same face up size.

It went from 1.44ct to 1.25 and stayed at 7.3-5.7mm.

He just recut it today so I haven't seen it in real life, but the pictures are amazing.

OMG - It looks soooooo much better! I'm so happy for you - Jerry worked his magic for my sapphire, and I'm glad that he was able to do the same for you. It really does look flipping amazing :appl: :appl: :appl:

Wow what a transformation especially considering he didn't think he would be able to do much for you. :appl:

Did he set the stone in the ring for you as well?

Great job on the recut, you lost very little weight considering how shallow the stone was.

No, the stone isn't set yet- it's just balancing there. I actually am still debating trying to sell the setting. I'll wait till I get it back into my hot little paws to decide.

It looks great. I'd love to see a photo of his recut where its not resting in the setting. That said, it sure looks like he solved the problem. Unbelievable.

My oh my, what a transformation! I did not realize the original stone's cutting was so poor until I saw the loose stone picture above. It looks so sparkly now that I wonder if you'd be tempted to keep it (and the setting) instead of selling it. :naughty:

Heh. Tempted to keep the stone at least! Still debating selling the setting...

Thanks again to all who suggested Jerry. He's very nice and helpful, taking the time to provide detailed explanations, which is wonderful for a newbie like me.

Beautiful! I really really love the colour of that sapphire...and I'm a fan of the setting too! .. I must have missed the thread on the stone before the re cut, I'd love to see some before and after?
