Honeymoon booked!!!! Excited, yet nervous!!

After much back and forth debating (and some financial help from FMIL and FFIL), FI and I decided to book our honeymoon at.......drumroll please.......Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun!

The resort will be brand new and opening on July 1, 2008. I have called their information line like 15 times to confirm that it will be opening on time and they are 98% confident that there should be no more delays! Whew!

We will be going from July 21-28, 2008 and can''t wait to stay at this much anticipated resort! We booked a Junior Suite Oceanview Room and are also getting a special Honeymoon Package!

Just in case, we do have a backup in mind--The Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso--and our Travel Agent will move us there at no extra cost if for some unforseen reason Secrets will not be ready!

There really is no other incentive or upgrade at this point besides the Honeymoon Package I mentioned. When we get down there in July, I think FI and I will try to negotiate a free upgrade to their "Preferred Club," which normally costs an extra $400pp for the week. We weren''t willing to pay for it upfront, but it does give you a few ''perks'' that may be nice for the honeymoon!

Anna - I will definately be back to post some pictures ASAP when we get back...probably on July 29th b/c I am off work for one extra day after we return from the honeymoon!

Also, this will be my first trip to an All-Inclusive resort! YAAY!

Update! I guess that I really did have a reason to be nervous b/c Secrets Maroma Beach has pushed back their opening date from July 1st to August 1st.

Luckily, FI and I met with our travel agent and were able to change our honeymoon to Excellence Playa Mujeres, which is located north of Cancun in a more remote, undeveloped area. We decided against The Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso because it actually ended up being a little bit out of our budget!
