I am curious, is there some regulation on how the caterer computes a tip?
On the latest quote for my wedding (this Saturday) they are taking the food charge plus tax, then calculating the 20%.
I always thought the tip should be computed on the pre-tax food charges (i.e. $30 x 20%), not on the $30 + tax, then times 20%.
Is it normal to pay a tip on the tax?
(along those same lines it looks like they are charging us a tip on some of the rental items as well)
