I have already posted some pics in the Vendor Pic/Owner pics thread because this John Dyer pic is so neon looking and the stone is actually like that. I didn''t quite expect the colour to be so bright, even when the vendor here, told me the stone had arrived and it was just like the photo I wasn''t convinced, but hopeful. I couldn''t capture the colour, but interestingly I found out-of-focus the colour is captured. This method will have to be named the TL method, it does work!

Again I''m sorry for the one pic per post - I''m a bit challenged in that dept.

Klewis,
Thank you for starting a thread on this stone.

Is it Afghani?

The pavillion TL. It''s really beautiful in itself.

Holy Moly! That is absolutely gorgeous.

It is, and that''s a really neat shot. Are those JD''s initials I spy there on the side of the stone?

Hi TL. Yes it is Afghani, and it''s much brighter than I could show.

TL- Yes they are his initials. Thanks CharmyPoo

Wow,
Only JD''s stones are as fascnating from the pavillion as they are through the table. It''s a lovely lovely stone. What are you planning on doing with it?

And finally

Wow! What a beautiful, neat stone!

What are the specs on the stone?

oh wow, that is a cool looking stone, beautiful color too!

What a fantastic gem, I love that interesting cut. I can''t wait to get a stone in that color range.

I''m not sure yet. I thought I might find the slightly elongated shape less attractive, but it''s great.

Thanks OUpeargirl I''m saying thanks as if I cut it myself - I wish!

This is vendor''s pic - this is the colour.
Thanks D&T, Kunzite and Richard

What are the specs on the stone?

5.33carat 13.2 x 7mm

Actually I bought 2

I have this too. I had been eyeing this for months and then I saw the discussion Chrono started about it. I thought it was going be sold then, and after a little over a month and it was still there, so I decided to bite the bullet. I am not "allowed" to see this again until September since I convinced SO this could be my belated birthday present. Birthday in March, present in September.
It is in an envelope with KEEP OUT! writen in large black letters.
Lucky eh!

You''re very lucky. I think that was the last of that particular Afghani rough he had, and he''s probably unable to obtain more. It''s really difficult to get that color out of Afghanistan these days.

I''m jealous!

Here''s a more in-focus picture of a JD stone with very similar coloration to the one you purchased.

I didn''t know that TL

Thanks Amethystguy

Wow, I think that''s the first time I have seen a PS owned John Dyer stone. It''s amazing, as so many of his stones are and you have two of them - WOW! Just Wow!!

I look at John''s stones in complete awe, as do many of his contemporaries. I also understand he is a very nice man. He is certainly supremely talented.

I''d love to see more John Dyer stones here.

Congratulations Klewis, I can''t wait to see what you do with them.

Thanks Gailey. Not sure what to do with it yet. I''d love to see more John Dyer stones too

What a gorgeous color and cool cut too! Looking forward to seeing what you decide to do w/it!

Packrat, Loriken, LG & Kribbie - I''m pleased you like this stone.

I think my taste leans to conservative when it comes to the style of cut I prefer but this ZigZag cut, on this gem, is just amazing and elegant and what strikes me is, seeing it IRL, the cut doesn''t overpower the stone.

Now could someone please buy the colour-change Garnet on his site ? I''m broker than broke but I want it!
