YouTube videos of our gems

Does anyone know if we are allowed to post youtube links? I have a video of my alexandrite I thought would be fun to post.

We are not because it's a way to get private information from each other, like emails, etc. . .

That's what I've read in the past when the mods were trying to explain it, but perhaps they can provide another explanation.

As of right now we do not allow it. Both because we do not want to inadvertently allow unscrupulous people to get more personal information than they should have and because they are very hard to monitor for us to make sure they contain only appropriate content.

We are working on finding a solution for the future that would allow members to post videos.

Ella - on another forum I belong to, we can upload videos in URL format. It links direct to Photobucket but you can't access the member's private details, you can purely see the video, nothing else. If you would like more information, please drop me an email and I can demonstrate.

Ella - just tried the URL route and it doesn't work on this forum BUT if I use a direct link to Photobucket, you can see the video on here by clicking the link. I'll email you the link to see!

with all the stories of no-security floating around youtube, that venue would be the last place to show gems & jewels on-tttoooooo many bad guys/girls floating round to get your stuff-my 2 cnts-steve....

There is bbcode available which allows embedding both youtube and photobucket videos...have added it myself and I am not a "coder". Not sure how much protection they provide as any linked objects provide the ability to go to that user's albums via the link itself, I believe.

Laura - If you have Photobucket then you can click on the security settings so that if you make a link public, people can view that item only and NOT the rest of your account. Hope that helps.
