I have been reading up on this website for a few weeks and haven''t learned alot. Thanks to you all!!

Now I''d like some advise/input/comments/etc.

I am considering buying the following:

X-PRONG 18k White Gold Ring with Princess Cut Setting (I prefer white gold).

with the following diamond:

Report: GIA
Shape: Princess
Carat: 0.75
Color: D
Clarity: VS1
Depth: 68.4
Table: 64
Girdle: TN-M
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Culet: None
Fluorescence: No
Measurements: 5.17-5.16X3.53
Length/Width: 1.00

What do you think???

as a fellow princess-seeker, that looks like a really nice stone to me - maybe even too nice. i think you'll have a difficult time finding those table/depth settings. at least for me, that was the case. but as a matter of personal pref, i'd probably go down a color or two. that will either save you some money or allow you to get a bigger stone. i'm not really sure i could tell the difference between a 'd' and an 'e' or even an 'f'. but here's the point - if *you* can - go for it. if possible, i highly recommend that you look at the stone to see for yourself.

all the best

Here is a sample picture of the ring

That looks good to me. Where did you find the diamond? I'm looking for one just a bit bigger but with the same %'s.

hello,

this is in regards to LEENYC comment, "i think you'll have a difficult time finding those table/depth settings." i am curious what you mean by this statement. do you mean that you would have trouble find a setting for this diamond due to it's table/depth percentage? i guess i was not aware that table/depth percentage affects a setting?

Inconclusive information IMO however there are some here who may know more than I do. I wasn't aware that a conclusion could be arrived at with this information alone. I'm not saying it's a bad stone but I would not put my neck on the line to say it was good either. I'd be a little more careful with my advice when it regards someone elses money. The numbers indicate you're on the right foot but my advice would be to consult a pro and have the stone sent to RockDoc, Rich Sherwood or Dave Atlas.

[edited to add...] let's at least get some crown angles/height & pavilion angles/depth so a more educated opinion can be formed *without* seeing the stone.

Purchased the ring from Whiteflash. Got it in a Tiffany style 4 prong setting rather than the X-Prong. The X-Prong had a 4 week wait.

The diamond is amazing. Lots of fire and VERY VERY colorless -- glad I went with the D color. The setting looks much better than it did on the website.

And I saved about $2000 for some local jewelers.

I was originally interested in the Tiffany setting, but chose the W-prong because I didn't like how thick the prongs looked on the Tiffany 4-prong setting. Do the prongs on the traditional Tiffany solitaire cover a lot of the diamond? Please post pics so we can see it!!!

I believe that that stone is no longer available...well, I hope it is...but it was listed on dirtcheap but is no longer available on their site...it seems as though it was an old price scope link? dunno

OMG LOL- you're the reason it isn't available on Dirtcheap!!! LOL.....CONGRATS...it looks like a beauty!!!

The prongs are a little thick which is why I may upgrade to teh X-Prong setting -- I think I'll let her decide on that. From the sides they cover about 35% of each side of the diamond.

However, the band is thin and it makes the diamond look bigger than it is. And from above, the diamond is stunning.

I prefer the look of white gold to platinum, which I find to look industrial. I got the ring for $150 in 14k white gold -- while the Vatche was something like $770 for 18k white gold.

The diamond itself was $2788.

All from Whiteflash. I'm very happy with the way Whiteflash does business, including packaging during shipping, and the jewerly box -- very nice.

I'm so glad you're happy with your purchase! I LOVE the diamond my B/F bought, but I won't be able to wear it until he proposes :-( We actually had a very hard time deciding on a setting because we had to get a customized one for the stone (it's a 3.22 ct and my finger size is barely 4.5). I love the traditional Tiffany settings, but I don't want to hide my diamond. I think the x-prongs are gorgeous, but with the necessary modifications I was quoted a price of about $2000. So, we decided on the w-prong and I've fallen more and more in love with it (Brian sent me a bunch of pictures of the setting that looked MUCH better than on the wed). The only thing I don't like about it and the x-prong is the fact that they taper at the back of the shank, not near the head. I want to show off my diamond and make it look bigger which is what I love about the Tiffany settings! Oh, well! I guess I really have nothing to complain about. My boyfriend has gone above-and-beyond when it comes to making my dreams come true. I'm sure your G/F will feel the same when she sees the beauty you picked out for her!!!
