YG e-ring and WG band?

I own a BGD Truth Pave setting in yellow gold with white gold prongs.
I had just thought that I would get the matching band in YG, but today I was at a jewelers checking out rings and he gave me some other ideas.
His suggestion was actually to have a plain 1.5mm WG band on either side of the ring as my ring was sparkly enough on its own. He also thought that the WG made the YG and pave in the ring stand out more.
I was not that keen on the plain band as I'd had in my head that the band would be a matching pave.
The jeweler then suggested a WG pave band - which my fiance and I actually quite like the look of when paired with my YG e-ring.

I know some of you PSers are probably recoiling in horror at the thought of different colors! As the jeweler said, it's whatever I want as I'm the person wearing it, but before I make a decision - are there any cons to mixing YG and WG?

Does anyone else have pics of mixed colored e-ring and bands to share?

E-ring pic attached again for reference.

i'm totally considering (haven't gotten either yet) mixing my colors too :) except a wg e-ring and a yg band!

If you look, British royalty pair platinum e-rings with yellow gold bands. It is classic and has precedence. Its ok to dress your hand like royalty! (I have an antique 22k band I wear with my platinum ring sometimes, even though they are on the right)

Beautiful ring!!!
I think it's a nice thing to mix and match metals! i am in the opposite seat as you. I have a white gold ( with yellow basket ) ering and a yellow wedding band and I love the color combo/match.. Makes a nice touch!

You requested pictures... THis one is not the best detailed, but you can see a little the 2 different metals :)

I think a white gold pave band would be fabulous and make everything POP! Actually, you are not really mixing metals because you have a white gold head so it will just tie that in and not be too matchy. Love it

I agree with this. I think it would be stunning. Your YG ring is very pretty, btw.

We need SMTB thread on mixed metals wedding sets!

I'm a big fan of mixed metals as well. I like the symmetry of wearing your bands flanked by two white gold bands. I think it could also look nice to have a band of each color and you could wear the yellow gold e-ring, then the white gold band, then the yellow gold band (basically the opposite order of colors of the other configuration). With your ring being two-toned you can really do no wrong!

I think they'd look great together too :))

I can't think of a single reason to be wary of mixing gold alloys (other than the wear and tear that is inevitable if you're going to wear two metal bands). if the pave band is three-sided or the girdles are exposed you'll have issues, but if not.. why not? :sun:

I also think the WG pave band would look cool with the yellow gold. I think you should take a few for a spin and see what
you think!

This is definitely a personal preference and there are no "scientific cons" that would tell you otherwise. I think it's a bold choice and love those who can pull it off. It actually opens up a whole array of options for your other jewelry components as well! Go for it and don't doubt yourself! :appl:

Ok - I'm going for the white gold option. Will post pics once it arrives.

Thanks all - just needed a bit of gentle encouragement!

I am glad you are choosing to mix metals. I love the look. I think it opens lots of options for other rings

Yay, I'm glad you went for the WG! I can't wait to see pictures of it with your stunning Ering :appl: :appl:

I love mixing metals. My SIL has a platinum ering and YG wedding band. Sometimes I use a RG spacer betwixt my platinum rings. Do whatever strikes your fancy!
