HI,

I'm really trying to find a yellow stone so that I can propose to my Girlfriend...

I have a budget of 28k to 32k...I'm based in Australia and wish to purchase in the next week....

I have found some diamond online but i'm unsure of the companies reputation and the stone quality...

I really want a Vivid yellow diamond - 2ct to 3 ct... Vs1 to IF cushion cut

Thanks you in advance for you help...

below are some stones i have found

does anyone have any other suggestions

Cheers

Those diamonds aren't necessarily in house and immediately available. Also the first link doesn't have a photo of the actual diamond, its a sample picture. I wouldn't buy a diamond unseen. With that kind of budget I urge you to go to a supplier with a good reputation as thats a lot of money to risk!

How yellow do you want the stone to be? Do you have a shape preference?

How about DBL? They are well respected on PS and I'm sure they would send the diamond superfast to Austrailia. They usually have other stones not yet on their website so worth a call to ask if they have more options.

Or Lebish they also have a good rep on PS

Now this one is smaller than you wanted but its the yellow-ist/more vivid thing I've ever seen and being a pear it will look massive!

Why the hurry out of interest? 1week is pushing it. Do you have a ring setting picked out? Buying a stone and setting together might help with the time frame. Fast and quality son't often go together!

How about a preset ring?

Good luck!

I vote for the first one from DBL that chel180 posted above!

That Leibish pear is sick, yo!

Don't know the shape you're looking, but I am loving that Leibish vivid yellow pear!

FYI: Leibish has an affiliation with Ishay Ben-David, the vendor for the cushion in your first post (the www.fancycolordiamond.net site) - Leibish has their US customers make returns to Ishay Ben-David (located in the New York diamond district).

Also, if you were interested in making a purchase from Leibish, I suggest you first enroll in their VIP Members club as that sometimes provides a price break.

Leibish pear thumbs up :naughty:

My vote is the 1st DBL diamond Chel180 posted - the 2ct cushion cut fancy intense yellow. It just appeals to me more than the others... but that pear.... oh boy! it's a beauty! :appl: :appl:

I think I fall in love about 20 times each time I cruise DBL's site! They are all drool-worthy. Good luck Matho54!

Definitely the Leibish pear. With a large high quality stone, and since you mentioned colour - colour is everything.

Certainly you have a certain size impression you want to make, as you stated around the 2ct mark.

I WOULD personally go down a few points in size in order to go up a few points in colour.

The DBL stone doesn't do it for me, as there are literally tons of decent yellow stones. To me that cushion is just an alright yellow - beautiful but not stunning (colour wise)
Having a superb vivid stone with a VS or better clarity is very much rarer; and hence more special which I'm guessing is the point of your budget and your choice of a coloured stone.

Ishay Ben David, Diamonds by Lauren and Leibish are all well regarded here. Ben David and Leibish are closely related companies and both trustworthy. I have made purchases from Leibish and their customer service is excellent.

Why don't you browse through their inventory and find a vivid that screams out at you in a shape you desire? The photography is very true to life.

hunting for fancy colored is NOT a one week job! sometimes it takes months if not years for a stone you've been looking for all of your life! anyway, OP mentioned he's looking for a cushion cut!

as far as price points, it's really hard to gauge, especially given your range of VS1 to IF... no way in the world you can get a 2-3 carat FVY IF within your budget... i would probably get a VS1 stone with a larger carat weight... you can probably find one with VS1 and close to 2 carats for 30k... good luck finding one though! again buying fancy colored stone is not a one week job!

HI all,

Thanks for all your advice... The reason for the rush is i want to get it all sorted prior to xmas - including the settings... But i will wait for the right stone....

Colour and size is what i really want, plus i want it to be good clarity to the naked eye....

Has anyone heard of thediamond.com

some of their prices are great and do have some nice pictures...

Why not propose without the ring and then search together after Christmas, that way it will be a suprise and you can find the perfect stone without a rush.

My husband proposed on Christmas Eve in 2006 with a wooden and gold Scrabble set - he hid the letters spelling out 'Will You Marry Me' and I had to find them. If you look in the Proposal's section you will find plenty of stories from people who proposed in imaginative ways without the ring.

We then designed the ring and found the right stone together with each of us having input. It was very romantic and he knew I would have a ring I would love at the end of it.

I don't know about Australia, but here in the UK it is probably more common to get engaged without the ring than with.
