So I''m not a huge fan of the white mini-bride flower girl dresses for my wedding. Of course I realize that''s the totally normal thing to do, but I want to add some color since I am only having one BM and feel it''ll look a little bare. My BM is wearing a pewter dress (thinking it will be this one from POB, but still on the fence...)

(I still don''t know how to link, I''m awful!)

My colors are pewter/gray and yellow, so I want my flower girl (that I had forced on me in the first place!!!) to wear yellow. I like a brighter/deeper yellow, so nothing super pale or pastel.

I''m having a hard time finding cute colored flower girl dresses out there since so many of them are white with only a colored sash.

Any recommendations for colored flower girl dresses or good yellow dress finds you''ve stumbled upon??? Any help is appreciated!!

Search Dillards, Macy''s etc for normal little girl dresses. There may even be some Easter dresses on clearance. You don''t need to buy a "flowergirl" dress, as they will only be white or pink anyway. My flowergirls wore peach, and I bought their dresses at Dillards.

How old is the flower girl?
Is cute princessy or modern?
Cost or quality?

Here are a few in a range of options

http://www.priscillaofboston.com/dress_detail.jsp?gid=8&sfid=51037 deeper yellow

http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=455363&CategoryID=48104 fairly bright

http://www.dillards.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=301&catalogId=301&productId=502178234 I think this is really beautiful

http://www.billlevkoff.com/#/7/flower-girl-and-junior-bridesmaids-2/ The brightest yellow I have seen is his euro canary

I spent a lot of time looking for yellow flower girl dresses because I too wanted some different from the mini-bride look. But in the end, I decided to do the ol'' white dress with a yellow sash instead because my bridesmaids will be wearing yellow, and I thought it would be an overwhelming amount of yellow. That''s obviously not the case for you. There were some really cute dresses on dessy.com that were in my exact shade of yellow (marigold), but they would be pretty expensive for little girl dresses. I agree with those who have said you should look at department stores for the color and style you are looking for. It is hard to give specific suggestions without knowing the shade of yellow and age of the flower girl. Good luck!

I think it''s nice to go with colour for a flower girl. Yellow would be lovely for your flower girl!

Coloured dresses on a flower girl is actually the ''norm'' up here in Canada, I think. I''ve heard of them wearing white and seen pictures in magazines, but I''ve never been to a wedding where the flower girl was in white (and I''m 50.) When my daughter just got married last fall her bridesmaids wore chocolate brown and her flower girls wore chocolate brown with ivory polka-dots! So cute!

My 2 granddaughters are my flower girls next month and their dresses are green and ivory, with a green crinoline.

I don''t know if they ship to the U.S. (most companies do) but Jolene is a very popular place for flower girl dresses up here in Canada (with the exchange $$ rate still in your favour, it might work out well price-wise!)

I have a flower girl who is wearing a cute little ivory dress, its beautiful, not at all "child bride" looking at all, her mom found it at Macys while looking for an easter dress, bought it, showed it to me and it was adorable. She paid about $30 for it because of the awesome macys coupons!

I also have bubble girls/jr. bms, that range from 7-11. I''m not a huge fan of bigger girls wearing "flower girl" type dresses, they look odd and out of place to me. My BM dresses are AA, so I looked on the AA site to see what they had for colored flower girl dresses that didnt look to "young" they had awesome colors to choose from, I wound up ordering them online from ebridalsuperstore. They order them direct from AA so no quality is suffered, they just dont have a ton of overhead as they don''t have an actual shop, just an office/warehouse for shipping so it significantly drops the cost!

This is what I picked for them, they are going to wear the same color as the sash of the BM dresses. The girls love them and can''t wait to wear them!

flower girl dress

The dresses were $100...I was quoted $180 in my shop. AA has tons of colors to choose from. Sunshine is what my BMs are wearing, its a really nice yellow, not too bright, but not pale at all, it photographs yellow!

I love your colour scheme - I don''t have any suggestions beyond the ones already offered, but I think a yellow flower girl dress will be fabulous!

I would check Alfred Angelo, as they have a ton of colors. They have sunshine and butter in yellows.

WOW thank you so much for all your help!!! I see several great options that I hadn't come across myself! You girls rock!!

For those who asked, the flower girl is about 6, I think she'll be in kindergarten. Definitely wanting a modern look, not so much princessy or whatever you want to call it, and want a saturated yellow look (not TOO bright, not too mustard-ish, but definitely not pale/pastel). I'm like freakin' Goldilocks, huh?! I need it jussssst right! Haha!

Second question: For your flower girls, did you actually take the girl to a store to get measured/try on dresses, or just pick one, send in measurements taken based on girl's size/cloth size and then hope for the best?? I don't live near this girl (and they live out in the country and are not near any real bridal salons that would have any of these dresses)... so I'm trying to figure out what to do!
