Hi Guys,

I have ordered my brilliant cut diamond from MDX and are now looking at getting a setting made for it. I really like the X Prong style rings that Vatche and WF make however I am trying to find a place that would make them in Melbourne for a reasonable price and are good quality. I would most likely get it done in white gold. Can anyone recommend a place?

Hi Mg, sounds like you have a lovely stone from MDX. I am in Melbourne and am currently having a ring made by G & N Jewellers, you could try them. Ellissi is another. Also Ken Gray & Allister Reid are very good from personal experience. Hope that is a bit of help to you. Good luck and let us know how you go

Thanks MonnyJay, I will check them out. Yes hopefully its a nice diamond. 1.04k G VS2 H&A. Any other recommendations?

Hi MonnyJay

I tried Ellissi however Ian wont do rings unless you source the diamond through Ellissi which is unfortunate because I liked some of the rings on his website. I think I might go with G&N jewellers. Would love to know how your ring turns out, keep us posted.

I know of a very good bench jeweller in Melbs, but more for creating a setting from scratch/designing etc.
I don''t think they sell standard mounts, sorry.

This is the advice I gave another poster - it''s best to find where the jewellery is actually made in your
city (ie. I''m in Perth and its London Court here), and go ask them - where the actual bench jewellers, stone setters etc are - they will be cheaper than retail jewellers,
and may be able to order just what you want from a standard catalogue. These are the guys that more than often the retail jewellers send the work to when you give them a job (re-sizing for example), and than charge a premium

I *think* its Collins st in Melbs, but I''m not sure sorry.

Or, you could always order one from the US? You most likely won''t need to pay import on a simple X prong style.
There is a store on ebay, American Set, who a couple ppl have bought from in the coloured stones section, and have been happy. I know they do an X prong.

hope that helps!
