I had mine recut and set in a 3 stone. I scrapped the gold. I am so glad I kept the stone and she looks so pretty with her new "friends". My husband would have been hurt if I got rid of it. Thanks PS for educating me on the idea of a recut. Everyone is happy in our home
My original e-ring diamond was so small it wasn''t worth trying to sell. Only 0.18 ct. I have it mounted in a pendant as an accent stone now. I don''t think of myself as sentimental, but I will admit to a tiny sniffle as I watched the pendant designer remove it from my original e-ring. I picked out a 0.63 ct E VS2 ISEE2 diamond from GOG and have it in my original e-ring setting (with a new head, of course) and I gotta say, this is exactly how I always wanted my original e-ring to look.
My great big whopping first stone (.15) fell out of its yg setting years ago, I still have the setting and will keep it and offer it to my son for his long time girlfriend who wears yellow gold if they ever decide to marry, with a new head and diamond of course that my son would pick out with alot of help from his mother. I would never get rid of it but if they did not want it I may melt it down for a charm or something else.
