Would love some help/ideas for planning mini-vacation

Right now I'm thinking either...

Santa Fe

or

San Francisco

What are your ideas for nice hotels, nightlife, food, etc.?

We're thinking of going 2-3 nights (but hoping to convince DH for a little longer - he just came back from visiting a friend in Georgia but I think I can do it , probably some time in October...

Trying to choose between the 2 will have to do with how much the flights are, etc., and the kinds of things there are to do.

San Francisco!

I just visited there in August, and I completely fell in love with the city. There is SO MUCH to do. So many great restaurants, so many different sections of the city to see, so many awesome sights to see. I know there are a lot of people on here who are either from San Fran, or have visited that have TONS of suggestions of things to do there. I followed their advice for a lot of the things I did in San Fran and me and FI had a blast.

P.S. nightlife is also really good in San Fran

I voet SF too!

we've been booking a lot of hotels from priceline, and we always use betterbidding.com to see what the different areas are going for. It's a great site and they keep track of people's "wins" and dates, and hotels. If you stick to 4*, you can't really go wrong!

But it looks like we won't be going this year...it looks like it'll be SF hands down when we do go though!
