Hello everyone. I have grown to really appreciate the honest opinions I have seen posted here, so I have a question. I have made up my mind that I will be purchasing an approximatly 1.25ct ring from most likely Blue Nile or Abazias.

Could I get opinions on what the members feel is the quality and value of their settings? I really don''t have a specific ring picked out, so I don''t have a particular design to show you, but I''d like to just get a general opinion of the quality and value. I''m leaning toward a 3 stone setting, and they''re not cheap; in the 900-1000 range. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, and I hope my question isn''t too vague. Thanks!

There is no doubt you could shop the price and find something similar in appearance for less money, BUT the quality of nearly all mountings sold by the major vendors is very good to excellent. Why? They want you to love your purchase, not return it over a small detail such as a mounting. For a couple hundred extra, you probably will get a very good to excellent example of a mounting along with high class workmanship.

The amount you might save could be wasted in valuable time spent and possibly result in a higher level of dissappointment than more satisfaction. I''d suggest that you have the vendor set the diamond whenever possible. The risk involved with setting then remains on the vendor. This is certainly worth a whole bunch of bucks if a diamond happens to get chipped or worse during setting. No mounting seller will guarantee the diamond like the vendor of the diamond will.

Agreed, find a good online vendor and go with that person and don''t try to find something too much cheaper, then you get what you pay for the setting if you know what i mean.

Thanks to both of you. That is just the opposite of what I expected to hear, and just exactly what I hoped to hear!

I think the quality of their settings is fine, but I also think that many vendors have access to much nicer settings for similar pricetags. I would check out Whiteflash and Good Old Gold to start.

Thanks for responding; I''ll check out Good Old Gold. I will not, however, deal with White Flash again. I have tried to give them my business, and got zero customer service for my effort. But that''s another post I''ll make. Again, thank you for your kind response.

Really? That is really weird! Whiteflash usually gets fantastic marks for customer service. I''m sorry you had such a bad experience!

Another to try is Mark at Engagement Rings Direct. I have worked with him on multiple occasions and he is great.
