Hello Everyone
I''m a newcomer, been spending about 3months lurking around this fantastic site!.
3 months ago I didn''t know a thing about diamonds, and now I''m giving advice to my friends who are also in the market for engagement rings.

So I finally decided on a diamond and purchased it. I was wondering if I could get some opinions?

http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/Whiteflash-ACA-cut-diamond-1848229.htm

It''s an AGS ideal 0, 1.496 cts, H, SI1

I feel quite lucky to have come across this stone, especially at such a nice price point. Only thing is, I''m a little worried about the ideal-scope image, mainly the white leaks around the edges and the white dots at the tips. I''m also a little worried about the green fringes in the ASET.

Please tell me I''m just over analyzing? I know white or light pink around the middle is almost always bad. I was always confused by the ideal-scope reference chart in regards to all the white on the edges.
PS. I got the Legato setting! Hope she likes it!
PSS. Whiteflash was excellent, very patient and understanding.

Welcome!

The white areas you see on the Idealscope are controlled intentional leakage which can aid desirable visual properties of the diamond, absolutely nothing to worry about and can aid contrast and scintillation in a diamond. The ASET looks great too, that is an excellent diamond you have there, and the Legato setting is a super choice!

The diamond is perfect, no need to worry about the IS.

You are over-analyzing young skywalker.

Wow
Thanks so much for the quick response.
Another question,
So after a quick search of the Diamond Price report, I find the average price should be around $5094/ct.

Meaning my rock should be around $7641

Did I overpay? Or am I missing something?

Thanks again

Static price reports really aren't useful except as a generalization. Even then diamonds vary dramatically, even within given labels.

GIA and AGS "H" may be different than "H" from another lab. Same with SI1 clarity. Even SI grades from the lsame lab can be eye-clean or not-clean. The AGS "Ideal" light performance grade has different value than other reports in some places, and the standards of what makes the "H&A" designation varies wildly between sellers. Also figure in what the seller offers in terms of short and long-term benefits. Someone with a generous return period, buy-back, trade-up options, free sizing, free annual inspection etc., may rightfully charge a bit more than sellers who just flip the diamond.

If you do a search of 1.4-1.6 ct H SI1 diamonds advertised as H&A on PS you'll find pricing ranging from $4K to more than $8K per carat. What's outlined above, and more, figures into those price differences.

In general, compared to most retail models, you will find that prices charged by the reputable PS sellers deliver great value for the money.

mmm...just use the Pricescope search. I really don''t think you will be able to find a 1.5 ct H SI1 for 7600.
