A new world's tallest dog was named yesterday by the Guinness book of world records. His name is Titan and he is a harlequin Great Dane from San Diego who is deaf and partially blind. I am interested in this story because last year my sister went to dog beach in San Diego and came home with pictures of her Great Dane/lab mixes with a ginormous harlequin Dane named Titan. I couldn't believe it: people normally think her dogs are the biggest they've seen but Titan was 3 times their size. At the time, my sister said, I can't believe this dog is not the tallest in the world. Turns out she was. She also said he was very sweet and playful with our dogs. I've attached a picture of her dog Harley with Titan. Keep in mind, Harley is huge in his own right. I am 5'4 and his head comes just under my chest.

Wow! That''s a pretty tall dog. Pretty handsome, too!

Yep, according to the markings I would say it has to be the same dog. We went to our dog park a while back and there were
3 great danes there. One was young and wanted to play. The other two seemed content to hang out with their humans.
They all seemed like great companions.

I''m certain its the same dog because my sister has pictures of the owner too, which is the same lady in the Yahoo story. I think its so awesome that he''s a rescue and special needs. This dog was so sweet to my sister''s and Titan played so awesome with him that the whole thing just warms my heart.

hmmmm 3.5 feet is aprox 42 inches.
I know of a Great Dame that may beat that as he is young yet at 39.5 inches.
Sweet dog to but thinks he is a lap dog.

They all think their lap dogs.

wow is he tall!

lol, isn''t it just the funniest (or most uncomfortable) thing when big dogs think they can sit on your lap? both of our dogs (a lab and a dalmatian) growing up used to think this

A friend has a dane and he does that "big dog lean" against your body. He could knock you to your knees

He is so gentle and sweet. On his back legs, he towers over me and I''m 5''4''''!!

Here he is with my sister.

How cool! Your sister met a celebrity! He looks like such a sweetheart, so happy he found a good home and gets good care, thanks so much for sharing the story, I really enjoyed the pics!

Oh my gosh, he is huge! Even your sisters dog are pretty darn tall!

My daughter is "into" Great Danes and dragged me into membership in a Great Dane rescue league since she was under 18 and couldn''t volunteer alone. She did teach me that the Harlequin ones are always the largest, but the white ones are considered disabled. They are usually deaf and blind. They often end up with rescue organizations. The Great Dane in the photo does not look like the average Harlequin; he is far whiter. I wonder if his deafness is due to his having some of the albino Great Dane''s qualities? I am no expert, but seeing these magnificent animals suffer in any way breaks my heart. I do not do well with dogs suffering...it is one reason I could never have become a vet. I cannot handle it.
