With a band such as this, can the center stone be removed to add a head/prongs?

I like this 4mm wide band, with 2 sapphires as sidestones, and wondered if it would be possible for a jeweler to remove the center stone, and add a head/prongs to hold a larger diamond? i was thinking for my pear shape diamond. Thanks

It is possible, but could look like a dogs breakfast?
Is it for looks or emotive reasons?
