Hello all. I am new to PriceScope but just wanted to share my recent experience purchasing an engagement ring from Wink Jones of High Performance Diamonds. The beginning of my ring shopping journey first started with many late nights trying to educate myself on diamonds. I was familiar with the "four Cs" but really did not have much experience and as many can relate, it can be a bit overwhelming. From all of my personal research, it became apparent, however that diamond cut plays a major role in optical performance but it was quite bewildering trying to understand all of the factors and combinations of cut angles etc... that produce diamonds with beautiful brilliance, scintillation and dispersion. After deciding that I wanted to invest in a diamond with exceptional cut quality, I took advantage of Todd Gray's (of Nice Ice) diamond concierge service online. He was incredibly responsive to my questions and based on criteria I had shared with him, referred me to High Performance Diamonds. Before then, I had never heard of Wink Jones or the Crafted by Infinity (CBI) diamond brand. However, it did not take me long to realize that these diamonds are cut to incredibly rigorous standards and with great consistency. Above all, they are simply drop dead gorgeous! The High Performance Diamond website was easy to navigate to narrow down my search criteria and provided detailed information regarding each diamond, including an AGS grading report as well as other useful information such as ASET and Idealscope images to indicate the contrast patterns and light return. As I am sure many can relate, at first, I was very hesitant to make such a large and importance purchase online. However, numerous correspondences between Todd, Wink and myself made me feel much more comfortable because of their transparency and willingness to share their knowledge and respectfully and incisively answer my questions. On top of that, Wink offers a "see it to believe it" program that enables you to actually see the diamond you wish to purchase before you buy it. Furthermore, he also offers a 21-day return policy following receipt of the diamond.
After deciding on the diamond, I still needed to select a setting and was referred to their specialist, Melissa. Melissa was also an absolute pleasure to work with. Like Wink, she is clearly very knowledgable, especially on ring settings. She asked me important questions about my (now) finance's preferences and lifestyle to select the most appropriate ring. She had given me many resources to make the most well-informed decision and was incredibly patient and responsive to my questions, such as 4 vs 6 prong heads, types of metals, thicknesses of the shank and considerations for comfort, high vs low set diamonds, etc... Because we decided on a custom design, I promptly received a CAD so that I could see the exact dimensions of the ring and better envision how it would turn out.
In the end, I ended up with an absolutely stunning engagement ring and my fiancé absolutely loves it! I would highly recommend doing business with Wink and Melissa of High Performance Diamonds. In short, here is why. The quality of service that I received from High Performance Diamonds far exceeded anything that I experienced during my initial efforts to find an engagement ring locally. Their experience, knowledge and ability to communicate their understanding of complex information regarding diamonds and settings into an accessible manner is unlike anything I've experienced before. This was huge for me. Also, he has a working relationship with an unbelievable company (CBI), whose diamonds come with far more information/documentation than what I was able to secure from local brick and mortars. While there are other "super ideal" cut diamond brands out there, such as Hearts on Fire, they carry an exorbitantly high premium that is simply too high for most. I was able to get amazing service, receive top notch education and get what I wanted within my budget and had fun doing it the entire time. Most importantly, it was Wink and Melissa's genuine enthusiasm for their products and satisfaction of their customers that earned my business and will have me as a returning client in the future.
To those that are weary about purchasing an engagement ring online, I had a very positive experience and Wink essentially takes all of the risk out of the equation (see above). As many PriceScope members before me have posted, I completely trust Wink and High Performance Diamonds.
