Will the shank even show? Small finger size

My finger is a size 3.5 and I'm looking at a 2.5 to 3ct round brilliant. I was wondering if you think the shank will show much - I wanted to get a pave shank but a friend told me it won't even show because the stone will take up most of my finger. If it won't show much then I won't bother getting any fancy design, and save that for the wedding band.
 
Yeah, It'll show. Whether or not you want bling in both places is a matter of your choice.
 
it will certainly show - you're only looking at an 8.5-9.1mm or so stone, a size 3.5 is a 14.5mm finger diametre and that doesn't include the shank height itself or the fact that no solitaire ever stays perfectly upright all the time..

Ditto kelpie - obviously your choice of shank.
 
Yes, it will show for sure. My finger is 2.75 and the diamond below including the halo measures about 11 or 12 mm.
