I have 2 diamonds to look at tomorrow and the specs are listed below. I did plug the numbers into the diamond calculator and wanted to know if anyone can tell me what they think about the depth. Judging from the notes, will the depth on stone one be a problem?
P.S.: Notes are from an appraiser who has already looked at them.
#1 -- One round modern brilliant diamond measuring 7.50mm in diameter x 4.15mm in depth with an actual weight of 1.57 carats. The diamond displays a table diameter measuring 4.30mm with a table percentage of 57%, and a total depth of 55.3%, a pavilion depth of 43%, a crown angle of 35 degrees, thin to medium non-faceted girdle, medium blue florescence with very good polish and symmetry. The color grade is E and the clarity grade is SI1.
Note: Though the depth is a bit low, all other proportions and cut are fine. This stone shows very good brilliance, scintillation and dispersion, no inclusions can be seen with the unaided eye. Few small clear crystals give this diamond an SI1 clarity grade. The polish and symmetry is very good. The color is a definite E which is very very nice. For the value, I would choose this diamond.
#2 Loose Diamond
One round modern brilliant diamond measuring 7.60mm in diameter x 4.51mm in depth with an actual weight of 1.60 carats. The diamond displays a table diameter of 4.50mm with a table percentage of 59.2%, a total depth of 59.3%, a 43% pavilion depth, a 34.5 degree crown angle, thin faceted girdle, medium blue florescence with very good polish and symmetry. The color grade is G and the clarity grade is SI1.
Note: The proportions and cut on his diamond are considered fine. This diamond shows some internal graining but like the other diamond, cannot be seen with the unaided eye. The diamond reports states F color but my color test shows this diamond to be a G color, which still does not show any tint of yellow. This diamond also shows very nice brilliance and dispersion.
