Obviously, everyone is different, but I wonder if you think a half mm difference in height off the finger between two rings will be noticable under non-OCD viewing conditions?
2.gif

My e-ring is 1.5mm thick and the bezel band that I am now strongly considering is 2mm thick... If anyone has hand shots of rings that are about this different in heights I would REALLY appreciate seeing them!

(BTW I never know where to post these types of threads... is this more of a hangout Q?)

Okay. Your legato has that nice rise to the cathedral head thing going on thatmy Scott Kay does. So, even if the bezel band is a wee bit taller (and .5mm is really, reall small) It'll only be taller around the sides, and not on the top once the cathedral starts, right? So really, that difference would only be apparant on the bottom of the ring, or if you're spreading your fingers wide and peering at the sides, unless I'm mistaken.
3.gif

You like Shimmer's set, right? From what I can see in her pics, her bezel band looks to be slightly taller than the legato, until the cathedral starts. Does that make sense?

shimmwset6.jpg
See what I mean? You can't see the ering band until it starts swooping up. Does it bother you in this picture?

shimmwset2.jpg

Here's another where you can kinda see what I mean. From the sides it looks a liiiittle bigger, but not from the top/profile.

ETA: Pics are from this thread: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/introducing-my-wf-legato-sleek-line-ering-and-custom-wedding-band.89707/

Dani, you are correct, what I am concerned about is looking down at my hand from the top. Simmer''s set is a really good example. I think I will ask her how thick her band is... I seem to recall her saying it was 1.8mm but I will double check.

Here''s my plain knife edge band. I''m not sure on the height, but I *think* it''s 2mm tall. I''ll measure it tonight for you. The difference in height on these guys did drive me batty, to be honest.

This picture is HUGE. Meh.

Yes, that is exactly the type of height difference that would annoy me, just like it annoyed you! LOL! And how thick is your solitaire? It looks very low profile.

Meh. I can''t find the height listed anywhere. Since it matches my wedding band almost spot on, I''m going to run with 1.8mm? I''ll whip out a ruler tonight.

But if that''s the case, my knife edge must be more than 2mm tall? Oy.

I''m just confusing the issue. I''ll shut up until I have a ruler.

haha.... Lesley says that the 1pt bezel band is too thin to match the legato perfectly in the way they finish it (I''ve seen pics and it looks like it is finished a little thinner than the WF version). Also, she worries that the carat weight will perhaps not be what I am looking for. I think she is right, and that is why I am struggling with making the decision. I''ve found that when something it right the decision is easy! But if I struggle it means it isn''t right. So there you go
3.gif

Adwar says the 1pt band is 1.5mm and the 3pt band is 2mm.

d_d,

I'm sure you've already investigated this, but there's got to be a casting company that offers a bezel band for 2 pointers, right? Maybe Unique Settings of NY?

Huh. And WF said my 1pt Adwar band is 1.8mm. Meh.

Do NOT get the 1pt band if you want blingage. Seriously. This thing is gorgeous, and I love it, but it''s really delicate. It shimmers or glitters as opposed to BLINGING.

I really will get a ruler and a camera tonight and take a bajillion pics for you, LOL.

I don''t know. Maybe Lesley will see this and let me know
3.gif
She hasn''t suggested that so I''m not sure... I just checked Unique Settings and they don''t have one.

All in all I am a little torn because what I really want is the bling factor but bands that provide that would really be too thick
15.gif
I can''t have everything, so I am not sure what should "give"

since the discussion before, how come not 2 pointers instead? I think 2-3 pointer will balance your diamond well. but you''re right on the height, I think the height would be a bit much on the 3 pt band for the legato, but can Brian just shave it off a bit?

Unfortunately, Adwar doesn''t make a 2pt band and custom makes it too much $$ IMHO for what the ring is. They can''t guarantee that they can shave down the height and I don''t want to risk it. My wheels are turing...

You know I am beginning to wonder if I should just scrap the idea of an eternity band that I can wear with *this* solitaire setting. It is a gorgeous setting, don''t get me wrong, but it is just impossible to find a diamond band with any realy substance that will match it! I am wondering if I should get the ring I want and just wear it on my right hand!

ohh, DD I feel for yah... I know I''ve weighed so many options as well... the bezel band is sure Gorgeous, but maybe not the right band for your setting? do you like shared prongs?

Could the sapphire/diamond three stone be a possibility again?

ooh,, speaking of getting the ring you want for an RHR but still bezel, and inexpensive,,, I've found this on LOGR,, not sure if you saw this... sounds like a 3 pointer or 4? not sure,,,
BEZEL

the other gal on rockytalk just bought one... it could be nice for the RHR,,, heck I might want one myself
31.gif
but in YG... I got a quote for me.,,and reasonable for my size $399 (size 4) just a thought?

I like shared prong, but the height issue comes up again when paired with my e-ring...

I think if I spend my $$ it needs to be for *exactly* what I want of I feel like I have wasted my money, and the cut quality and finish of my rings is really important to me.

I liked the bezel in part because it would match my e-ring... but for any other finger I''m not wild about it.

LOL! Nope, I am setting that diamond into a pendant and I am really happy about that decision!
9.gif
After giving it some thought I realized that I don''t like wearing rings on my right hand unless they are very low to the finger, like eternity bands or something.

One thing I am thinking about it having a 7 or 9 stone band made that I can wear solo or on days for extra bling, with my ring.. who cares about matching heights! My original wedding band is a 10 stone, shared prong, 7 pointer band, and it is lovely but the quality of the diamonds sucks
14.gif
I get annoyed whenever I look at it! Don''t worry, I am not sentimental and neither is my DH, the ring is just a piece of jewelry... but I am thinking that a better project may be to "remake" that band with sllightly smaller stones (7s always felt a little chunky) and super ideal cuts

Dreamer,

To me, a half mm difference *does* make a difference, it''s just a matter of will it bother you or not? I''ll be getting my Legato on Tuesday and I have no idea how it will match up with the diamond band my hubby bought me, height-wise! I''m just crossing my fingers it will be a good match because the channel diamond band is not going to be returned/exchanged (that would definitely hurt DH''s feelings and besides, I love it!) and my Legato solitaire is my diamond''s permanent home.

How long will you have the Legato? What do you envision your permanent setting to be? Will a bezel band even go with it? If/when you upgrade to the diamond size you want, will you keep the Legato setting or go with a different one?

IMO, just reading your posts, that the 1 pointers aren''t going to give the sparkle you are looking for. Of course, I''m still in the channel band camp
3.gif
I think in the long run you''ll be happier with the 3 pointers, and if you know the Legato is a temporary setting, then maybe the height difference won''t bother you as much as you think it will?

Oh yay!! I can''t wait to see that!! I''m the same way, I just can''t wear a RHR for some reason! It has to be thin and super comfy. I do have a beautiful amethyst halo RHR and I rarely wear it. What will the new pendant look like?

I think this sounds like a great idea! So you''d do rounds? If you''re open to different cuts, Facets has a 9-stone baguette band that''s 2.6mm wide and only 1.6mm thick, so just a wee millimeter thicker than your solitaire! Just an idea. The rounds would be beautiful too.

I think the difference would bother me since the only reason I was really considering the bezel band is because it would match my e-ring perfectly! LOL! I do love the band, but if I am perfectly honest I want more bling. As I said, matching the solitaire and bling isn''t going to be possible. With my next upgrade I will need a new setting since this one cannot be used for a stone larger than 1.25, and at that time I will definitely be getting a setting with a slightly thicker shank...closer to 2mm or a little thicker. For the versatilty factor. So I think that the smartest thing to do is get the band I Loooooooove and not worry about the height difference!

Dani, thanks but I don''t think so... so nice of you to offer though! The more I think about it the more I think that it would be smarter to get a band that I will be able to wear solo and have finger presence, and also be able to wear down the line with my larger solitaire it a different setting. I am excited about this option! I have wanted to replace my present band for a while now.

I am thinking u-prong or a shared prong a la tiffany!

Nice! I love the open profile on the Uprongs! But shared prong is so classy too!

I was actually just worriying about the same thing before my wedding band came in a few days ago! My engagement ring is about 1.5 mm high and the wedding band is 2mm. I can tell a slight difference, but it''s really not that noticeable I don''t think.... not enough to really bother me. I like the weight of the 2mm band too, so I think it''s worth it.

I''ll try to remember to post photos tomorrow... to sleepy tonight

geckodani, I just wanted to say your set is my fave on pricescope. I LOVE it. If I was a RB kinda girl I would be copying it to the last tiny detail. It looks so co-ordinated and right although not a maching set. *swoon* maybe in another lifetime
