Will H & A be there? Does it matter?

If you order a stone from a vendor who does not use a H & A viewer, but only the Sarin, will it have H & A if it''s an Ideal Cut, and I''ll define ''Ideal'' as
D: 60-62
T: 55-57
Angles that put the stone in 0-2 on the HCA.

If you didn''t get H & A''s, would it matter in light performance (which is all that matters since glitter is the key)?

I have a vendor who uses the Sarin, not BS or IS or H&A stuff.

Thanks.

This is definitely no guarantee of H&A optics. Even if the diamond is GIA Ex/Ex that is still no guarantee of H&A optics. Also, even if a diamond falls within the stricter specs of ideal that is still no guarantee. If you are defining ideal strictly by table and total depth measurements alone, that puts you further out of the park.

Yes it would matter regarding light performance. The arrows phenomena is caused by the 8 pavilion mains reflecting back light into the face of the viewer which is the most important direction a diamond can reflect back light (ie. in your face). Strip a diamond of that ability and you change the optics completely. In direct light the arrows are a source of strong fire and in diffuse light they serve as important points of contrast which contribute to the brilliance of the diamond in suffuse light conditions.

Then you should consider having it appraised with an optical analysis. The future of cut grading will be determined by optical properties and not just numbers.

I recently bought a RB w great numbers (.9 HCA) & my vendor only used a sarin too. However, he did have an idealscope so I was able to look at the stone & see minimal light leakage (and crispy arrows).

I was fortunate enough to also see the stone thru the H&A viewer - it had perfect hearts too.

The stone is amazing & I can not tell the dif btwn it and the marketed 'super ideal' H&A stone I had next to it...
What matters is how the stone you choose looks to your eyes

Who is the vendor?

The RB I recently purchased was for a right hand ring (I'll try to post pics later). I went with the same vendor that helped my fiance & I create my e-ring - Mark at Engagement Rings Direct - I think he's terrific to work with

My issue with Engagement Rings Direct is that they have a million stones and they are not divided into "super ideal" vs. 'ideal' vs. 'premium', so you have to do more work to find what you are looking for. At least I couldn't find a search mechanism that would narrow the field.

Maybe I missed something.

Mark said he was going to update his website, tho i don't know if that's one of the things he's going to be updating...?

Either you can sift thru the list yourself (ok- i admit it- i think it's fun, crazy gal that i am)

or you can ask Mark to find you a great stone w/in your specs - after all, he's the expert w the GIA bkgrnd
