DH and I will be going to the appraisers to check out the diamond on Friday. Can''t WAIT!! Finally made a decision to go w/ BGD because DH wants the option to be able to upgrade later without having to pay double (our other choice was a 2.2 G VS1 James Allen truehearts in the same price range).

Here''s a link to my future sparkly!!

Any advice for me on what I should be sure to ask my appraiser and what I should make sure to do when I am there with the diamond on Friday? I don''t want to leave any stone unturned this time around. DH and I got into a complicated annoying situation which we luckily were able to reverse (assuming we get the remainder of our refund tomorrow via check, which we''re supposed to), so I want to make sure it doesn''t happen this time. Though, I have a lot more confidence this time since BGD comes so highly recommended by PS''ers (Thank you guys and gals! You have helped me more than you know).

Also, do the majority of you all decide to go ahead and wire money even though most online sources seem to recommend using CC when you can, for the extra protection? Wiring the majority of the purchase price would save quite a bit of money because of the cost of the diamond, and that''s what DH and I are planning to do, but I''d like to hear opinions/experience on that, with regards to PS vendors. Do you all feel more comfortable with wiring money to PS in-house vendors because others have cited positive experiences with them? I guess it would be awesome to get the CC points on my purchase and give me that extra peace of mind, but I would also love to save the money from the wire transfer discount!

I feel 100% comfortable wiring money to BGD. I have worked with them for a couple of years now and have had nothing but good experiences. But only you can decide if you are comfortable doing it. I would not wire money to a company I did not know anything about, but PS offers a good amount of information to consumers. Do a search on BGD and their reputation is pretty clear.

As to checking out the diamond, in all honesty, just have fun! have the appraiser confirm that the diamond matches the cert, and if they can offer additional information about cut quality or their opinion about the clarity and color that is an added bonus. But again, you are dealing with one of the best online vendors of diamonds in the world. I cannot imagine anything being "wrong". And if you do discover something you are not happy with -- perhaps you want a different color or something -- then you can just return the diamond with no hassel at all. So you are *safe* in this situation!

Ditto.

Depends on what tools your appraiser has at his disposal. Play with them... :P

Thank you Dreamer!! I am definitely going to have a blast!! I've been reading nothing but fantastic things about BGD on PS and have had a great experience with them so far, so I also feel comfortable with wiring money to them, but I can also be a bit of a sucker when there's a big shiny thing involved(DH's words, not mine.. LOL), so I just wanted confirmation from others on here that there's not anything I need to consider that I haven't yet. :-) It's comforting to hear that you'd feel comfortable wiring them money and that you've had nothing but positive experiences with them. That's what I was hoping to hear; thank you!

haha, thanks stonecold! You''ve been a great help in making my decision. I really appreciate your input!!
