Why doesn''t this stone sparkle

I saw this stone in a wholesaler''s office where the lighting was not too great. He''s a totally trustworthy jeweller.

It just had NO LIFE in it - hardly any sparkle. Its GIA certified. Specs:

0.70 H-VS1
VG/VG
58/60.2 (Depth/Table)

I know this isn''t enough to determine cut info, but i don''t have other dimensions of pavillion angles etc.

Should I even try checking this in better light, or can you think of other reasons why this stone just doesn''t sparkle.

Even in low light a nice stone should sparkle. I''ve seen amazing stones in candlelight.

It is probably because the stone is too shallow (depth) and the table is too large. You said depth = 58% and table = 60.2%...

if it is the other way around....table 58% is a little larger than ideal?? other than that, I don't know??? without knowing the rest...

but it is true that good stones will sparkle like crazy in dim light... the ring that I am getting sparkles under dim street lights at night... I can't wait to try candlelight!

You've seen it with your own eyes. If it does not sparkle, why buy it? Ask to see other stones or look elsewhere. If this diamond does not sparkle now it never will.

i have a 58% table and mine sparkles like mad so it must be some other factor

Street lights and candlelight are very different from just plain old "flat" office lighting. Street lights and candlelight will make any stone look fabulous.

Do you or does the dealer have an ideal-scope?

What color clothing were you wearing?
White shirts are far better than dark colors.
