Why are blankets subject to trends?

First, Happy Thanksgiving. Second a little rant: have you ever been thwarted by a trend. Like you NEED navy shoes and no matter where you look-- no one has them because they aren't on trend. I just don't understand it sometimes. One year everything is burgundy the next year you can't find a speck of it.

Rant over.

I've been looking for a couple of washable soft cuddly blankets that don't pill, are stain-resistant (so no cotton) and warm in solid ivory. I used to be able to buy new ones every year. We go through them every 12 -18 months or so because of how often I wash them (cats). This year I can't find them anywhere. Even Costco where I usually buy them has every other color but no ivory to be found. These are the ones I have and they are great. I'd happily buy them again but no ivory: https://www.macys.com/shop/product/...searchPass=allMultiMatchWithSpelling&slotId=2

I bought this one from Overstock but it was awful. https://www.overstock.com/Bedding-B...on-Soild-Berber-Blanket/18050631/product.html

I want two twins. Does anyone have a recommendation? Thank you in advance.

I also want super comfortable (ugly-ish is fine, but I have RA and comfort is key) leather navy ankle boots, but I have a better chance of wining the lottery (and I don't have a ticket) than finding those. 9M, though, in case there is a fairy godmother reading.

Feel free to post things you are looking for to see if anyone can help you hunt down your wishlist.

Because 'fashion'!

In the UK, Primark is king of this - stuff comes in, it gets sold, it never comes in again, so one basically has to buy it on the spot or risk it being gone by payday and/or never being able to get it again if you want to re-buy it.

It has got to the point that I now buy more than one of what I like when I see it - because I'd rather have a backup in the drawer than have to trawl round shops again in six months when the original item is worn out (because of cheap labour/materials  ) or if I spill something down it!

Have you checked out Amazon, eBay, Etsy...? Sometimes one can get lucky on there!

I empathize @LaylaR. Hate when that happens.:(sad

Have you checked out Lands End for a warm soft ivory blanket? Huge sales right now too.

As for navy boots I don't know about leather navy but Stuart Weitzman has some fierce navy suede boots...

These look comfy:

and they have a number of other navy booties.

I have their 50/50 boot in navy and it is supremely comfortable but it is an OTK boot. I do find most of their boots to be comfortable.

Layla, It all comes down to fashion and what colors are on trend at the moment regarding shoes.

If you are looking for really soft warm blankets, try UGG’s. My husband bought a few at either Bed Bath and Beyond or Kohl’s. They can probably be ordered from Amazon. They were about $35 each and are the warmest softest blankets. I plan on getting a few more. We use them when we are watching TV.

Attempting to answer the question in the title: it's possible that the manufacturer's source for the material (ivory) didn't make it in ivory due to some other circumstance. If that colorway/blanket sold out repeatedly there's no way it wouldn't have been reordered and sold again--any successful/high margin product is going to be on repeat as long as the store selling it can get it. The demand might be there, but in this case I'm guessing the supply was not.

As far as navy booties:

Do the ankle boots have to be navy? Because I just ordered these from Costco and they're great. Not very fashionable but warm and soft. Reviews said to go down in size so I did. I did spray them with water repellent spray just in case.https://www.costco.com/Kirkland-Signature-Ladies'-Short-Shearling-Wedge-Boot.product.100428547.html.

I also picked up a fleece blanket in the store so don't remember which brand it was but DS is very happy with it. Store had different sizes and I did buy twin. https://www.costco.com/Monte-%26-Jardin-Sherpa-Blanket.product.100390270.html

Amazon comes up with lots of options for twin ivory blankets. this one is a best seller https://www.amazon.com/HYSEAS-Coral-Fleece-Plush-Blanket/dp/B015192EGW/

WOW, so many links and suggestions to look into. Not that I should be surprised. There's not a better group of hunters and shoppers anywhere than PS.

For those of you who recommended Lands End (which I'd never have thought to look at) which blankets do you recommend? I have a washable wool one from Pendleton but we use it for camping. The cats claws ruin it.

Lovely shoe suggestions too.

Thank you all for your help.

Hi JDDN,

They do have quite a selection! I like that second link a lot. I don't like 50x60inch blankets, they're too small. In general I like at least 60x80inches.

I prefer to buy from places I can return to locally, which is why I like Macy's too. It just makes it easier.

@LaylaR we were at (NYC) Costco yesterday and they had a selection of warm soft blankets some with a cream print. I wonder if perhaps your local Costco got in the same inventory?

These are not the ones I saw but just went online for you and here are some in ivory...not sure if they meet your requirements but fyi.

https://www.costco.com/Vellux-Plush-Micro-Mink-Blanket.product.100056939.html

This one is 60 by 80"

https://www.costco.com/Monte-and-Jardin-Jacquard-Velvet-Throw.product.100432170.html

This one is smaller and a print but might have potential?
https://www.costco.com/Eddie-Bauer-Plush-Sherpa-Throw.product.100466803.html

Here are all the Costco online ivory options:

As for Lands End I didn't realize your size preference when I suggested them because I just did a search and most of the ivory options are smaller than you would like unless you buy a blanket ie bed blanket which could be an option for you I guess.

https://www.landsend.com/search?initialSearch=true&q=ivory+throw

Lands End you can return at Sears I think and of course Costco is easy peasy for returns.

Costco is awesome for returns. I really like that second one, I've seen it here and it's nice quality. Not sure about the colors. Thanks Missy.

I generally buy twin bed blankets. Perfect size for when 5 cats decide they have to cuddle you RIGHT NOW.

Homegoods for the win! Found two matching soft cream blankets today in exactly the brand I bought a couple years ago so I know the quality is good. With an lovely offset brick pattern embossed. They are full size, but at 25 bucks each and exactly the color I wanted it was an autobuy. I can't go to Homegoods too often as it is too dangerous. My kitchen drawers are already stuffed to the gills with cooking utensils and I really don't need more knick knacks.
