Who sold you the most beautiful diamond you own?

Just trying to get a feel for who are the consensus top rated vendors around here. Who sold you the most beautiful diamond you own? And which vendor's top of the line cut would you most trust (sight unseen)?

For what shape diamond? I'd never buy a diamond "sight unseen" -- I would want photos, videos, and ASET/Idealscope if possible. If the purchase was substantial (say over $15-$20k), I'd fly and do the final selection in person, particularly for a cushion.

For a cushions, GOG because they have a good ASET setup -- but, GOG cushions cost more than others for the paper specs. ERD and Perry have better prices IMO, but they do "visual" selection and you're going to have to trust them.

For RBs, BGD and Whiteflash. Toss a coin. But JA has the best prices (again, IMO) -- but you can only hold for 24 hours and you can only request 3 Idealscope images. For a RB, no problem buying online, but would need at least %s and an Idealscope + photos to do so.

For a princess...I say BGD tentatively? They have a signature princess cut that looks lovely, but I don't like princesses, so...

FWIW, I only have one diamond, but viewed diamonds IRL from a couple PS vendors.

Both upgrades for me came from Brian Gavin. The first was through Whiteflash, and the second through BGD. I loved my ACA,
and so hated to trade it in. Even now, I wish I had kept it. I love my latest stone, but that first one has still has my heart.

Brian Gavin, Whiteflash, James Allen and a local seller in Antwerp.
I say that because no diamond is the most beautiful.
Every ideal diamond is another compromise, I can't choose between the 4 diamonds I mention above.
I'm sure I could say the same about Jonathan GoodOldGold, but I've never bought there.

In matter of settings, I was happy with the extreme precision at Brian Gavin and Whiteflash.
James Allen was OK with a slightly lower level of precision in the setting BUT then again much cheaper!

Sight unseen, both Brian Gavin and Whiteflash branded diamonds.
I love to buy at Brian Gavin because I love the contacts I have there, it's a long personal story.
Trust and fidelity are rewarding.
In matter of quality, I think that Whiteflash is also very strict, and you should be fine there too.

Ditto antelope on this one. For colourless stones I would buy a GOG signature, Infinity, BGD signature, WF ACA/ES, or JA without concern given only the information on the website(s) & my SA's opinion - report, IS/ASET, and a professional look-over.

For coloured diamonds I would go straight to David at DBL - and trust his word over anything on the website, given how difficult coloured stones are to photograph.

All my diamonds are "the most beautiful" because that's all I'll buy.

High Performance Diamonds
Whiteflash
Brian Gavin Diamonds

And if I my internet disappeared and needed a stone I would work with any one of them to pick out something beautiful.

First diamond- Blue Nile
Second diamond- Blue Nile
Third diamond- Jared

ETA: I would buy from BN sight unseen (and have) if the diamond feel within certain guidelines. Also, WF, JA, BGD.

Well, given that BN will not give you photos, ASET, or Idealscope, you certainly are buying totally blind...if that's the experience you want. :wink2:

Hands down, GOG has the best support for anyone buying online without the ability to see it in person IMHO. You pay extra for the expertise, the videos, the photos, the readily provided scientific backup, the incredible policies - upgrade and return, and they will bend over backwards to help you. But that extra is really really worth it for a lot of us for peace of mind and lifelong service.

I sourced my antique cushion from Perry at Leon Mege and I think it's a wonderful choice if you want a Leon setting. They get you an incredible price for an eye selected (their eye) gorgeous stone and you keep it under 1 roof. Perry is the awesomes. But some people have had their issues with the company and that needs to be kept in mind.

NOW I say all this not having bought from BGD, Whiteflash, or a few others listed here... so that's my bias.

My most beautiful diamond. I have a few beautiful diamonds. My asscher was purchased in person by my husband from a B&M in Delaware called Minster's (that is now, sadly due to the economy, closed). I also own some BGD diamonds, and they are all stunning.

As for where else I'd buy a round from:

I would like to own an Infinity. So HPD is on my list.

And I'm dying for a pear... and that's just going to be from whatever vendor can find me what I want and give me the information I want when I am ready to buy. There are a variety of vendors I might use to source this. It just depends.

Brian Gavin when he was at Whiteflash -- an ACA.

The runners up (in alphabetical order):
Brian Gavin personal selection diamond
Diamond Ideals
Good Old Gold

These are all superideals

my e-ring: ERD, but we got to go there and work directly with Mark.
MIL's replacement e-ring: GOG, we ordered online and worked out great.

Jonathan @ Good Old Gold! :appl:

Wink at High Performance Diamonds. Cut by Infinity. BEAUTIFUL diamonds.

Brian Gavin when he was at Whiteflash = 5 ACAs
GOG for my AVC cushion

please disregard the last pic'
the heart shape diamond necklace was an option that i did not choose, rather posted by mistake

I can't decide which is most beautiful.

Leibish & Co. aka www.fancydiamonds.net sold me these four GIA-graded naturally colored diamonds.

But www.goodoldgold.com sold me both of these beautifully cut white assher diamonds, the lower one is the amazing Octavia:

I'd trust an ACA from Whiteflash and an Octavia from Goodoldgold.

GOG and Israel Diamonds. I scoured the earth (literally) looking for my very particular diamonds (see past threads for the finished pieces) and both of them came through. Quality and price outstanding. GOG hands down for technical expertise and total honesty. Israel Diamonds for perfection in matching caliberated diamonds without compromising quality. Both of them will be by go-to guys forever!

We bought our 1.232ct RB from BGD and it is hands down the most beautiful diamond I own.

When I recommend PS vendors to friends, I recommend they talk to BGD for RBs and Good Old Gold for anything step cut. I'm not into cushions or princess cuts so I tend not to recommend anyone on that basis (though I read great things about ERD).

HTH :wavey:

The only online vendor I've worked with has been Whiteflash. I've purchased 3 diamonds from them and all three have been highly impressive.

ETA - I also have an amazing diamond from Ben Bridge. It's not a typical mall stone at all. It's comparable to my ACAs. The only downside is I paid A LOT more for it than I would have online!

OMG! so beautiful! how much did those cost you!

Probably less than you'd expect considering all of the colored diamonds are under 0.30 ct.
It is just the fancy macro photography equipment that makes them look like big honking museum pieces.
There are fancy colored diamonds of sizes and colors for every budget.

To give a better idea of the tiny scale here they are on table salt crystals.
