hiya all,

long time lurker here (been on for over 2 yrs now!) and now finally brave enough to post about myself. I was born in Canton, China and immigrated with my family to Vancouver, Canada when I was 4 (25yrs ago!). I speak Cantonese but can only read and write limited chinese. I knew I shouldn't have quit chinese school! Who woulda thunk in 20 yrs the chinese population in Vancouver would be so great? Certainly learning French in Canadian high schools didn't do me any good!

My husband is also Cantonese speaking but is from Vietnam (His family fled to Vietnam from China) . He came when he was 3. His family speaks Cantonese but does remember his parents conversing in Vietnamese when he got in trouble as a child! They unfortunately never taught him how to speak it. It would've been cool if we were able to teach our future children different languages. Oh well, maybe we'll teach them french! LOL

We are grateful we found this site when we were looking for our engagement ring 2 yrs ago. We were lucky to buy a beautiful Canadian H&A at a B&M here in Vancouver. I am still mesmerized with it's beauty though diamond-shrinkage is sinking in a little bit. (I wouldn't mind a 2 carat baby hehe)

My small jewelry collection consists of a 15 pointer promise ring from my husband from 10 yrs ago, my wedding set (solitare and pave wedding band), jade and gold pieces from my mom, and lots of 24 K jewerly (advantages of having lots of aunts and uncles) received from the tea ceremony at our wedding from last July. I don't like mixing colors so most of the 24K stuff is untouched.

We don't have any human children

right now as our 1 and a half yr old Pomeranian is our dear baby. We might be adding another Pom to our family later this year.

Thanks for reading everyone! I've added some pictures from our wedding last year. Enjoy! (THANKS YOU TOMATOE FOR THE PICS POSTING TIPS! )

Hey Puddykat,
So glad you posted your bio and shared pics of your wedding. I really love your bouquet. I''ve never seen delicate phalenopsis orchids in a bouquet before.
I''ve enjoyed reading your previous posts-- I''ve been here at PS for quite some time too, lurking a while before officially registering.
Have you posted your pom''s picture in "What''s Your Mascot...Meet Ours" thread? I''d love to see pics of your little fluffy one. I''m a pom owner, too. I had to leave my little guy with my parents when I moved out with my fiance because they can offer him a much better life than I can (I work waay too much) to own a pet right now.

Nice to meet you and look forward to seeing more of your posts.

Size 3??? I can''t even picture what a size 3 looks like!! My pinky is a 4.75 so I guess the tip of my pinkie maybe??? BTW is the metal yellow or white. Some pics look yellow and some white. Or maybe I''m really tired.

hi blingqueen,

they''re actually both 19k white gold. must be the lighting in the room that''s making it look yellow!

Nice pics PK. I love that pave band. Is it comfortable?

PK, you, your wedding and your diamond are just beautiful.

Hi Puddykat, I just wanted to say that you are absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!

Love those wedding images...I'm a huge fan of excellent photography and that is top notch! I adore the abstract shots, not the typical wedding stuff. I think the first one and the one with you both smiling where you are laughing and looking down are my favorites, you both look extremely happy.

PuddyKat,

Those are beautiful photos of a beautiful couple! You also have a very distinctive ring!

It looks like you incorporated some of the Chinese (and maybe Vietnamese, I''m not that familiar with those) marriage ceremony traditions into your wedding. Out of curiousity, how many times did you end up changing your clothes that day? What was your banquet like?

Hello,

If I''m not wrong, the last picture (black/white) shows the couple serving tea to seniors is part of a chinese wedding custom. I had my traditional chinese wedding in 2000, also done in the similar manner, serving tea to my in-laws, parents and seniors (uncles, aunties who are blood related and ancestors). And in return, they gave us red packets or ''ang pow'' containing $$ or/and jewelleries like 916 yellow gold bangles, necklaces etc.

**Sorry to hijack your thread puddykat......

It was a whole day event, stretches in the early morning from 6.30am at my mom''s place till 11.30pm (wedding banquet at Four Seasons, Singapore). Couldn''t believed hubby and I took 1 1/2 years to plan and prepare everything ...just zooomm pass us so quickly, followed by a big bill to settle.

Briefly describe the event since you (websailor) asked how many times the bride needs to change her costumes..

Worn the bridal gown at mom''s place. Make sure that hubby and his gang comes on time to bring me to my in-law. Served tea to my parents, ancestors and relatives. Make sure we leave the house before 9am.

Since my in-laws are just staying nearby (a few blocks away), we had to travel around Toa Payoh area several times and be there after 9.30am. Served tea to my in-law and their relatives. Changed to the chinese costume called ''kwa''.
Then travelled back to mom''s place for lunch before 12.30pm, bringing along a big roast pig as part of the cantonese custom.

Went straight to the hotel and prepare for the wedding banquet.

Changed back to the bridal gown, had the wedding march, then changed into the evening black gown to make a toast and back to the chinese kwa to see the guests off.

Didn''t eat much during the whole event, more like a fashion show for everyone to see. They were anxious to see how me and DH looks like in full makeup and formal clothes ... :P

Hope that answer your queries.

Regards
WL

Websailor...

BTW.... the beautiful bride (puddykat) was wearing a cheong sum. FYI
