I have bought a very nice peachy-pink sapphire from Earth's Treasury a few weeks ago, and I wanted to set it in following Setting:

https://ivyandrose.com/products/vin...gagement-ring-6mm-6-5mm-1-carat-round-Setting
8122a.jpg

Then I have seen a post from @stonewell and from @MrsKMB, and now I really don't know, which setting to choose. My stone is 6 mm, so the setting, which I have choosen would fit pefectly, but I'm afraid, the finger coverage would not satisfy me.

So if someone has this setting, please, post a picture from it, that I can see the finger coverage. My ring size is 5.

Thank you all!

I did not have this setting, but if the stone is 6mm, plus you have a halo and thin fingers like mine (rhr size 5), then I would think that would be plenty of finger coverage. That’s a beautiful setting, by the way.

I had debated between this setting and the one I ultimately used for my spinel. It’s really beautiful, imho. I’d love to see some pictures too since I still plan to use this for another project.

I know, someone on PS has this ring with a pink stone! I just don't know, who. I have found this picture about a ready made ring:

8122-BSd.jpg

I assume, the model has bigger ring size, than 5, so this picture is not really a good example, but at least a picture with a center stone.

The website should list the measurements of the setting, and you could see where it hits on your finger.

I set a 6.1 mm Tanzanian spessartite garnet in this setting and I was very happy with how it came out. I am a size 5. This is a setting I would consider using again, and I was pleased with the service and communication also.

I’m having computer problems so I can’t access my photos, but I posted photos under “Show me your rings under $1250.” I will try to find it for you.

Ivy and Rose setting

I got this pretty Tanzanian "mandarin" spessartite garnet on Loupe Troupe. It is from a trusted PSer, but since I'm new and am not sure about the etiquette I won't give her name. The stone is 1.32 carat, 6.1 mm, and was precision cut by Barry Bridgestock. It is a bright stone and under the loupe it has pretty little effervescent bubbles like orange soda. My photos are on a cloudy day, but the garnet looks more bright and candy orange in the sun. The setting is an in-stock white gold halo from Ivy and Rose. I can imagine this setting looking very nice with lots of different colored stones. The last photo shows the colors of my "Empress" lotus which is blooming now in the frog pond.

I am not totally sure I did the right thing choosing the white gold. I thought the garnet needed the contrast. There’s been a lot of discussion about this kind of thing, even today. It does look nice with the diamonds though.

Hope this helps!

Thank you so much! Yes, it helps a lot! The finger coverage on size 5 is fantastic!
Your ring is beautiful, and I think a spessartit garnet is really nice with both white and yellow gold, it’s just a question of your taste.

Gorgeous ring @MissyBeaucoup! I personally love the contrast myself.

I will definitely order this setting based on what I’m seeing - it’s a has a very nice overall design.

But can I also say just how jelly I am of you dainty size 5 ladies?? My daughter is a size 5 and that fits only on my pinky.

I wanted to give you one more update. After waiting for 2 weeks for the shipment, one week for the custom clearance - yay, customs made it in one week - I've got my ring.

My first impression was, it is beautifully made, the milgraining is very fine. I have ordered size 5, but unfortunately it is very snug. I can put it on my finger, but I'm afraid, after a long day I couldn't pull it off. So it has to be sized.
As I'm a size 5, and I have several size 5 rings, I would suggest everyone, to order one size bigger from them, in order to have the right size.

Here a few pictures of only the setting, and from the setting with the stone, what I tried to pop in the setting, but it didn't sit right.

I think, it looks good in the setting, but at this moment I rather find the finger coverage too small. I think I just have to wait for the finished product, and see, if I like it.

It looks very pretty, but I feel like your pink sapphire will look even better w/ bigger bigger halo. The pattern on the sapphire looks like sparkle spraying outward, like a burst, somehow the halo seems to constrain it inward, like the sapphire needs more breathing room, does that make sense? The picture of the setting with the dark blue stone doesn’t feel that way because the darker stone kind of draws the eye in. I hope I am making some sense here...

I think it’s beautiful! I just had a couple rings set and wasn’t sure about the ginger coverage, but after a couple of times of wearing both rings, I got used to it. Thank you for the heads up about ring sizing. That’s good to know.

I think it looks very pretty on you! I hope you’ll take more pictures when you get the stone set. It looks like it is going to be the perfect size.

It makes sense, I understand what you mean. I also thought, this stone needs a bigger halo.
It’s just so hard, because I ordered this setting with shipping for 325 $, and I had to pay 112€ (135 $) taxes here in Europe. :angryfire:
I mean even if I decide against this setting, and sell it, I’m going to loose money. Of course I could try to find an other stone, and maybe this is what I’m going to do, but than I need an other setting also, as I really want to have a ring with this stone.

By the way, this is a mahenge garnet, not a sapphire. ;)2

When i set the stone, you can be sure, I post a lot of pictures!
Because of the finger coverage: maybe my eyes just have to adjust to this smaller size, as I want to wear it as a right hand ring, so it shouldn’t be too big.

Yes I do think your eyes will adjust to the smaller size after a while and it IS a beautiful setting and stone.

I know what you mean and feel about the taxes in Europe!! When I was living in Germany, my mum sent me a box of stuff like flannel PJs, snacks etc. Stuff that aren't worth anything really. For some reason which to this very day I don't know, she listed the value of the items around 300 euros. I was really puzzled when I received the slip to collect from the customs office. I cycled there to collect the box and paid just under 100 euros... for stuff that wasn't even worth THAT MUCH in tax!! For a student, 100 euros was a LOT. I could have bought plenty of good German beer and my favourite kebabs!

@Gemobsessed thank you! The stone is a mahenge garnet, and I really love it. I haven’t taken any pictures outside, but here are a few from inside:

It’s perfect in every way! So pink, no brown at all. And that cut is just beautiful.

So after a seemingly endless wait my mahenge garnet ring is done! I have found a local stone setter, who did a really nice job, even for a good price.

I just snapped a few pictures in our living room:

You can guess I have a daughter, and she loves Minnie Mouse!

Your stone is absolutely gorgeous! I love how it came out in that setting. It looks beautiful on your hand! I hope you are happy with the results after the delay, customs charges, and fitting issues. I know I am biased because I love that setting, but it looks perfect to me! :appl:
