I am trying to find the best price for the quality of a cushion cut diamond. I understand that cushions aren''t the most common cuts (of course I would choose that!), and many of the websites don''t have a very large selection of loose stones that are cut well. To make matters more difficult, I also want a cushion with pretty similar length and width.

Does anyone have suggestions for a vendor that has the best cut cushions and the largest selection? Good prices help too

Thanks everyone!

From what I have read ERD is first with GOG next in line

www.engagementringsdirect.com Mark Turnowski is known for being the king of cushions...

Yup!!! And no one has a bigger inventory than what is available in the diamond district in NY and that is where Mark is. It is VERY easy for him to go out and view a number of stones that other vendors would have to get shipped.

We bought from Mark and he just did a custom setting with me. I love him. The experience couldn't have been better.

+ 1, just call Mark.

MARK!!! Hahaha and you have to trust him because he doesn''t take the best pictures

That sounds nerve racking!!! I''m admittedly a little bit of a control freak :)

I just received my cushion e-ring from ERD also. It is absolutely the most gorgeous and stunning ring I''ve ever seen. The diamond is so brilliant and just shoots off color in every direction. I''m very pleased with the final product and Mark will definitely find something great for you. I never saw the diamond before he put it in the final setting either. And his pictures aren''t to die for, but apparently they have improved! So I would definitely go with Mark. He won''t be back til Monday the 28th though. He''s on vacation!

Then you may prefer Good Old Gold since they can basically access the same stones but take pictures and video for you.

What size cushion are you looking for (and what budget)?

I''d really like to find a 1 carat for around $6000.

I saw that one- I''ve been looking for much of the day! Thank you for passing it along. From what I''ve learned from all of the PSers, I think that cut/symmetry/polish is pretty important to me. I''m trying to find stones in the very good to excellent range that also have close to a 1:1 length/width ratio. it''s tough.

I did check out ERD and they have incredible inventory. It''ll take me awhile to get through them all, but I''m sure that I''ll find something close to what I''m looking for!

I wouldn't look through the ERD inventory because most of it will be cushion modified brilliant. You wanted a cushion brilliant right? I know when I asked Mark to pull some diamonds from that inventory, he ended up saying they weren't all that good. So your best bet with ERD is to let Mark do the legwork for you!

Plus it won't say on there if it's a cushion modified or cushion brilliant. I searched around to look at prices, but even then it wasn't comparable because cushion brilliants will be more expensive.

Wow, thanks for the advice. I never thought that calling directly would be a better method. I am pretty sure I want a cushion brilliant, but it''s another thing that I need to research prior to getting on the phone with Mark. This board is so helpful!
