Greetings -

To echo everyone else''s ravings about this site, I have learned so much from all of you. After more than 9 months of deliberating and going crazy trying to decide on an ideal stone and setting (and subtle conversations with my GF), I think I would like to design this ring: http://www.tiffany.com/expertise/engagement/engagement.aspx?style=round_brilliant&ring=pear#

It is so expensive in Tiffany''s though. Can anyone recommend who I can work with to get the same ring for hopefully a better deal!?

Thanks in advance.

That is a really pretty and classic look. I love it. WF does great custom work. I''d try getting info from them. What sort of band are you thinking of doing?

I have that ring from Tiff's see avatar. But agree prices are high, mine was an upgrade. Anyhoo, check out www.artofplatinum.com Leon Mege does a great version of this ring. Kristydarling and other's have it. You can get the center stone from www.whiteflash.com www.goodoldgold.com www.jamesallen.com www.engagementringsdirect.com I'd have Leon source the pear sides though, he's really good at doing that. Leon made me a RHR, his work is exceptional, and reasonable. HTH and good luck!!!

Leon Mege has made a gorgeous version for a few pricescopers here. his website is www.artofplatinum.com. also check out Whiteflash, they make a setting pretty close as well. PS has many wonderful vendors where you can find a center stone. Whiteflash, GoodoldGold, Engagementringsdirect.com, James allen, just to name a few of the most popular here.

ETA: hehe, kaleigh, good avice

Great minds....

I''ve seen Leon''s version of the same ring: very nice. I actually prefer it over the Tiffany''s iteration. Others will disagree, but the Tiffany''s rings I''ve seen look great face up while the side-views are less elegant. Leon''s designs tend to look more resolved at all angles.

another option for you. You can buy a semi-mount with pears, signed pieces for examples has one.

Very pretty ring, and very classic style. I doubt that you would have a difficult time finding a jeweler to make that for you.

Thanks in advance.

Here''s a great thread showing lots of this style of round with pears, so you can see some different manufacturers of this ring.

new trend blowing in

Wow these are great suggestions, and Kaleigh, I must say that ring is awesome! Do people generally buy a stone separately and have it sent to a designer?
Also, are there proportions that you keep to when picking the center round cut and side pear cuts?

The ring I saw in Tiffany''s had a .57 G VS1 center cut with two .26 side Pear cuts. It cost $8000+. I was actually impressed with how it looked at that size (I originally was looking at 1.5 carat solitaires) and think I might just try to go just a bit bigger. Does anyone know generally how much I can expect this cost?

Thanks so much.

That thread of these pear-round-pears was awesome?

I just got this CAD rendering of the 3 stone (center round with 2 side pears) from WhiteFlash. I can''t decide how I feel about it. I had the Tiffany ring in mind when I asked for this design, but it''s just hard to tell. Any thoughts/advice?

Thanks so much.

Here is the 2nd rendering.

Do you have pictures of the Tiffany version? To compare?? (It looks pretty close to me - but I don''t know that Tiff design''s details by heart) Also, what size are the stones.

If I''d change anything about that I might raise the center stone a tish - or lower the pears a tish. Can''t tell which would work better. Though I also admire the flow exactly how they are now. It''s a matter of FLOW vs. IMPACT. IMPACT would feature your center stone more ... FLOW would be an overall very sophisticated understated look.

I found this pix of a finished Whiteflash version in the thread that inspired your custom journey (the new trend blowing in one)

Maybe it will help you picture the finished project more?? There are other photos of this ring in the thread -- I didn''t want to name & copy them all.

I absolutely agree that the stones need to be raised. They are way too far down in the settings. The side pears will be .25cts and th middle round will be .81ct. I figure that would be a good size since the ring size (Size 4) is rather small.

Here is the Tiffany ring link: http://www.tiffany.com/expertise/engagement/engagement.aspx?style=round_brilliant&ring=pear#

I think this one has both IMPACT and FLOW!

Thanks for your input.

Okay ... so here''s the Tiff''s sideview. Yes I can see how the baskets are set higher than the ones on the Whiteflash mock up of yours. I don''t know if it''s because the Tiffany rings stones are larger, or it''s just a design choice. I''m sure you could ask Whiteflash to raise the baskets some ... show them this pix!

I have to ask -- have you maxed out your budget? In an ideal world, I think a 1 ct round would give the ring an amazing amount of extra OOMPH and be a better proportion to the pretty side pears. But only an option if there''s $$ left on the table. I wouldn''t bring it up at all but I *think* I remember that you were ORIGINALLY considering a 1.5 ct. solitaire ....

I think part of the Tiffany impact is the pears are smaller in ratio to the center. I think Kaleigh, who has the real deal tiffany version, has .70''s ctw (or something close) so .35''s each for an almost 2.5 carat center, maybe go a touch smaller on the sides???
