I understand that Whiteflash has really well cut diamonds and as a diamond novice would assume that every diamond it sells is a diamond with a great cut. Presumably this applies to the diamonds they hold in-house only?

I was browsing the website and for some reason (on hindsight, perhaps I clicked a link to whiteflash through the pricescope diamond filter tool) two diamonds with "call for availability" appeared in a comparison table, I learnt that they are "partner diamonds" - with no aset or ideal scope.

One of this is: https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-di...rity-round-excellent-cut-sku-5104575?a_aid=PS

Should this automatically be avoided?

Whiteflash super ideal cut diamonds are labeled ‘A Cut Above’ and are in house. They also have an ‘Expert Selection’ line that are in house. You can call them to inquire about any other diamonds they feature on their website. Those may be diamonds that they can call in for evaluation. When you do a search for diamonds on their website, make sure you have selected in house for their super ideal cut diamonds. They are very customer friendly and easy to talk with so don’t hesitate to give them a call if there is something you want to discuss!

No, virtual diamonds (not in-house but easily accessible) at Whiteflash do not need to be avoided, but they do need to be
individually evaluated, either by a WF Sales Associate or someone here on PS.

The ACA and ES stones (both in-house) are highly pre-vetted. Not too much to worry about with them, and if you look at the
bottom of the WF page that pops up with virtual stones, you will see a list of in-house stones that are similar to what you are
looking for. Worth taking a look if they are close in Specs/budget. BTW, the center stone in my avatar photo is a WF ES stone.
Its my 3rd stone from WF.

You can also click on the HCA rating for a diamond in the Pricescope Search table to give you a "quick look" at its cut rating.

Yes - I've chatted with them via the live chat but I don't think they have very much to add rather than that the diamond selected is a great diamond!

It is not an in-house diamond. They could call it in for you for assessment. They may feel it has potential but it is not an A Cut Above Diamond nor an Expert Selection diamond. I would call and talk to one of their consultants. No way to know for sure it is a great diamond if they don’t have it in hand.

Sorry - what I meant is that for the ACA and ES diamonds, that is what they say - that each are "great" diamonds.

For those not in-house, I understood from them that they don't actually assess it - they just get it from a partner and that is that. Has your experience been different?

No, I have only purchased ACA diamonds from them. Cut quality is my main concern so I always choose the ACA line. I have had eleven of them - some traded up - but have loved the consistentency of their performance. They are more expensive as rough is lost in their cutting. They don’t have these diamonds cut for weight - they are optimally cut for performance. Therefore, more rough can be lost and that equals money. For me, it has been worth it to have these superbly cut diamonds.

For those not in-house, I also don’t know what their policy is regarding purchase. If they acquire it on your behalf, are you obligated to buy it?

Not sure what your color tolerance is but for example, there is this ACA in one color grade lower with the same size and in the price range you were looking: https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-di...-vs1-clarity-round-excellent-cut-sku-a4731607

In addition to our in-house diamonds which are mostly precision cut rounds, we also offer thousands of options in our Other Diamonds category including fancy shapes. On our site that category is not as vast as other internet merchants because we filter for a number of factors including availability in the US and certain quality aspects.

However, these diamonds have not been physically evaluated by the Whiteflash team. Our veteran team of diamond consultants do a great job of reviewing the reports and any images available to make sure the diamond is a good fit for the customer and to avoid any quality aspects that may be indicated by the report but may not be obvious.

Upon purchase the diamond is brought in and a careful physical examination is done the Whiteflash team. If an issue is found the customer is advised and diamond returned to the vendor. If all is good, the diamond ships out and the customer has a 10 day approval period.
