I don''t mean to be skeptic but I find it hard to believe that he paid $2,556 7 years ago when WF has a 0.515 E VS2 for sale for $2,035. and the setting today about $300. I actually think if you worked directly with WF you could get something a bit larger and a new setting for the money. Of course, you could offer the seller less, too.

Wooden wedding band sounds like a joke... but $1500 is a good price if the stone is as represented. Good luck, and let us know what you decided!

Get a scan of the lab report and then check with Whiteflash. They should be able to tell you if they sold it. This is suspicious. The photo of the loose stone was obviously taken before the stone was set and this doesn’t look like one of their photos. They have surely changed their photo methodology in the last 7 years so I would expect it to look different but even so that pic doesn’t look right.

Does anyone know if the Whiteflash tradeup program on ACA’s is transferable?

I am sure this means nothing, but I find it slightly odd that the crown measurement is given as an angle, but the pav is a percent.

Neil, that''s what ran though my evil little mind. Buy it and trade up.

I will confirm everything. Definitely.

It’s worth asking the question but I sort of doubt it. Most of these sorts of programs are not transferable. If this is the plan, don’t put down your money until you know for sure that it’ll work. One of the difficulties of consumer-to-consumer type deals like Craigslist is that there’s no recourse or return if it doesn’t work out the way you had hoped.

Neil is correct; like most others, our trade-up policy isn''t transferable.

For those who may be considering the secondhand market for a stone, I''d really strongly suggest relying on a trusted independent appraiser to review anything prior to purchase. Not only can he verify the stone is as claimed, but he can check for any damage that may have occurred during the ownership that might affect its clarity grade, etc. He can also verify that the stone does indeed match any accompanying documentation.

Alison, I"m meeting this guy in the a.m. I will call WF to confirm the information on the documentation he has - should I ask for you or who would you suggest I talk to? If I can''t trade it, I''ll probably have you all put it in a pendant.

Thanks.

Bring a buddy with you and best luck.

Trader, I''m not directly involved in sales, so your best best would be to phone Lesley in the morning, and she''ll be able to assist you with details about the stone.

However, remember that our information only reflects what the stone was at the time we sold it. If it incurred chipping or damage since then severe enough to affect the clarity grade, that in turn could potentially affect the fair market value. That''s why we recommend getting it eyeballed by a trusted appraiser as a condition of sale.

Forget what I said, I didn''t see the Craigslist price! It looks like it could be a great deal.

My friend just bought a WF ring from a Craigslist ad. I went with her, we met the fella at a jewelry store where they agreed to verify the stone for a nominal fee. The owner had all the paper work, AGS report, and photos from WF as it was a very recent purchase. Once the stone was verified we went to the parking lot, sat in my friend''s car and finalized the transaction. Definitely take someone with you. Good luck.

It''s too bad that the trade up policy isn''t transferable. Good luck today!
