Whiteflash, ERD or Singlestone for custom art deco ring??

I have trawled through these forums and managed to narrow down my search (I think) for a jeweller to make a custom art deco ring. This is the ring inspiration in question

We would probably be looking at getting a RB for the centre stone though as it faces up larger and has more sparkle (from what I've learnt on here...is this right??) We would want to make sure a wedding band could be placed next to the ring too (would probably get the band made at the same time as the ering but have no idea what this should look like)

Anyway, I don't know which company does the best work? From what I've read it appears to be Singlestone. Is this right??

For that style - Singlestone, if your budget can stretch to it!

Re the cut of the stone - I don't like RBs paired with calibre cut/French cut stones as I think the type of sparkle is too different. For that particular setting I think an OMC or OEC would look best - but it is personal preference.

I think all three do good work but it is sort of different 'specialties' and also different budget-wise! Singlestone makes lovely antique style settings but I am not sure of your budget. You can find well-cut other shapes too...but it is a bit trickier. What cut do you like the best? I think a vintage style cushion could be awesome in that kind of setting.

I really like the old cut cushions and think they would look best in this type of setting but the boyfriend doesn't like them. I think he likes the sparkle of the RB. He seems to think that the old cut cushions aren't as as expensive looking or fancy. How do I convince him otherwise?

In terms of budget, probably had in mind no more thn $3500 (excluding centre stone)...would this be out of range of Singlestone? Is this a resonable cost expectation?

He needs to understand that this ring is for YOU. You will be glad to get him a sparly round diamond if that is what he likes!

That setting does need an old cut stone. But maybe a compromise would be an August Vintage Round (OEC) which will have excellent light performance but an old cut. I just think it would be a mistake to buy a modern cut stone to put in that setting.

I'd probably try Singlestone first. I do believe Victor Canera might be the best, but after getting quotes from both of these, I found Victor quite a bit higher. I think Mark at ERD has some similar rings, so it might be worth getting a quote from him, too.

From my discussions with Singlestone, plain solitaires start at about 2500-3000. But it can't hurt to send them an email and see what they say.

I overlooked your pricing question. I got a quote from Singlestone for a less intricate ring and it was $3500. I think you'll be looking at more than that especially with all the stones in the setting. Can't hurt to get a quote and then get one from Mark.

Wow I didn't realise Singlestone was so expensive. We'll still get a quote but might be looking elsewhere, so either ERD or Whiteflash.

In terms of the centre stone, I totally agree with all of you that a modern cut would be a mistake. I would like an old cut cushion as I think this would keep with the style of the ring. Maybe I just need to explain to him a bit more about why this type of ring needs an old cut cushion.

Thanks everyone for your help. I'll contact ERD for a quote. I think I'll go for the Old Mine Cushion as the centre stone...because I'll be convincing the boyfriend it's better for us all

ERD for sure! I just finished a project with Mark and I had such a great experience. He is so friendly and responsive. He has some gorgeous antique style rings on his website that I love, I'm sure he could create that ring for you.
