Hi all! I am in the process of looking for a wedding band. I am pretty sure I want an eternity band with pave diamonds. I met a jeweler last week who said he recommended 14K white gold instead of platinum for a pave eternity band. He said that gold was harder and thus would protect the diamonds more and prevent them from falling out more, as opposed to getting platinum. What are yall's thoughts on that? If it matters, my e-ring is platinum. I just thought I would get a platinum wedding band too to have the same metal, but I had never thought about needing to get a stronger metal or thinking about protecting the diamonds in a pave eternity band. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I would definitely get the same metal. I have never heard of plat not being suitable for a pave band...in fact I have heard plat is the best choice for pave.

Stick to the same metal as your ERing

Thanks for your input. I had never heard of white gold being a preference over platinum either. The jeweler's reasoning was that platinum is more prone to scratches and so a scratch might cause a tiny diamond to fall out.

Thank you. Do you think if the metals are different then the harder metal will corrode the softer metal?
